Nope. They are not. Read the story behind this video (hint: the father was in the federal wanted list for a long long time, and not because he had a gun...)
Are you an idiot? Who told you that Russia is land of the free or democracy? We are a totalitarian country and course Lublyanka listen to every our word online using "СОРМ", "СОРМ-2" and "СОРМ-3" systems (yeah we are not free so the full text of the directives related to "СОРМ" are officially published - sorry, no opportunity of Snowdens here - the "spying secrets" are open to every citizen). Everybody knows how the system works and which exactly legal ways are available to break it.
