95% chance that after you beat him up (or he beats you up) that she would go right back to him anyway. There was this one girl in high school who would constantly get abused by her BF and when she cried for help everyone would just ignore here because they knew that intervening would be pointless.
However if I felt that this was a random attack and not a BF/GF then I would certainly do something. -
