Google Inc becomes Alphabet Inc - no seriously.

Google Inc, the $US445 billion search advertising giant, shocked the corporate world on Tuesday morning when it announced a sweeping overhaul of its business and a (rather nauseating) rebrand of its corporate entity.
On the stock exchange, what was once Google will henceforth be known as Alphabet. Google, the thing you use to search for stuff, will be still be known as Google, but is now just one of Alphabet's many businesses.
At the very least, Google (Alphabet) can no longer be criticised for being boring.

Kind of makes sense actually, "Google" is just one of the products that Google Inc owns, they are huge and have many entities like YouTube and probably want to be known for more than just their search engine.

looks like they are planning to grow even bigger, now they have 26 alphabets for new projects,

g for google
y for YT
etc etc.

Yep, that's why I posted the thread, but nobody got it. Maybe not many people have watched Silicon Valley.

Holding companies are hardly anything new. I imagine a lot of us on this board were way ahead of Google with having a holding company. It's just easier. Especially when you have LLCs for each asset, like a property or IP holding.
