ADSL Line Filters. Any recommendations?
I'm in Australia. My cable provider is a whore. I'm capped at 3 gig per month, and to be honest, the speed is nothing to be envious of either. Basically, it's a piece of shit. The only other decent cable alternative just went down the same shitty road and also introduced a 3 gig plan instead of their "unlimited" plan.
I can't handle 3 gig per month. It's fucking impossible, and the overages are ridiculously expensive (about 13 AU cents per MEGABYTE). Anyways, i've been looking to get ADSL, and i found a reasonably priced plan that offers 12 gig per month, at a reasonalbe speed. Thing is, my brother is with these guys, and the line filter he has is a piece of shit and he's barely audible when we're on the phone. So, what's the best option? What is the best line filter for maintaining voice quality on the phone? I was thinking about getting another phone line installed, but this would be much easier and much quicker. |

Generally you don't need to worry, any filter is going to
be with +- 10% of spec at worst. If you want to be anal. Head down to the local electronics hobby shop and have the guy test values before purchase and get as close as possible. 2 0.056uF capacitors 1 100ohm resistor 1 0.47mH voice grade transformer ring and trip of the phone line goes to the caps, the caps go to the transformer, the resistor goes across the 2 inputs inbetween the caps and the transformer. Other side of the transformer to the phone. |
