WARNING: Coming to a water district near you ...

Turning sewage (your shit, piss and waste water) into drinking water from your tap at home or in your office.

I was visiting OC, and decided to fill a glass of water from the tap. I tasted heavy chlore in the water. Homeowner told me that the waste water was being "recycled" back into the house. They have been buying the big bottles of water from the store ever since.

If you care about your health, or that of your friends and family. Spread the word, and write your water district. Let them know you do not want to recycle the waste water back into the house and office. Save it for the public parks and golf courses.

That all shit ends anyways back on your plate, though as more diluted if it goes through river, lake, ocean, etc. first. The shit isn't problem per se. It is all the meds in it, etc.

Most water sources contain more or less meds (drugs) and the kind of shit. I don't know that how much does rain include meds or any, but anyways if the waterway has human habitation around it, it pretty surely contains meds.

Most water life is under medication, under human medication to be more exact. Humans fucking environment has reached quite epic scales.

Aka123 - you are absolutely correct. We do forget or simply ignore the fact that the open water supply is contaminated on its way to the treatment plants. I recall a Hugh Howser video on the California pipe line disclosing all that goes into the water (dead animals included) before it is processed and distributed to the people.

As bad as it is already I would hope people stand up and complain in an effort to not allow things to become even worse.

                  Isn't this called reclaimed water?

My city does something along these lines, although I don't believe it is returned to our houses. Instead it's used to water certain public areas, parks, etc.

way to go completely and wrongly spinning a good thing.

congrats to the OC for being a fucking leader in water tech and for its recent increase in this facility from 70 million gallons/day to 100 million fucking gallons a day.

OC is doing it right, not wrong, you need to understand the tech before you go misrepresenting the results.

to simplify, like everything needs to be for gfy, the water is purified in a treatment process, then that water is forced deep into the local natural ground water acquifers, where it then percolates through the natural filtration process in the ground back up to the surface, where it is then run through another filtration facility.

" Reports of trace concentrations of pharmaceuticals in the water cycle have raised concerns amongst various stakeholders such as drinking-water regulators, governments, water suppliers and the public, over potential human health risks from exposure to very low levels of pharmaceuticals in drinking-water.

This technical report aims to provide practical guidance and recommendations in managing concerns over pharmaceuticals in drinking-water, taking into consideration the available scientific knowledge and evidence. It emphasizes the importance to prioritize this emerging issue in the overall context of water safety management, which includes microbial and other chemical risks that may threaten the safety of drinking-water."

"Most importantly, it is prudent to note that advanced and costly water
treatment technology will not be able to completely remove all micropollutants
to concentrations below the detection limits of the most sensitive analytical
procedures at all times. Therefore, it is imperative to consider the toxicological
relevance of various compounds in the context of appreciable risks to human
health. Increased or rapidly changing exposure arising from specific local
circumstances (e.g. a significant increase in the concentration of pharmaceuticals
in surface waters impacted by wastewater discharge) should be investigated. "

                        (page 21)

                        WHO | Pharmaceuticals in drinking-water

Some shit stays anyways, always. How big health hazard it forms, is another issue. Not big risk for humans based on that paper. Polluting environment is another matter.

Just buy a brita water filter. I saw a youtube video a month ago where they took the cheapest vodka you can buy and filter it 5 or 6 times and it will taste like a premium vodka.

Well I bought a brita filter at wally world for $10 and a 1.75L of Skol vodka for $10.50 and filtered it 6 times.. and wow it doesn't taste half bad..

I buy bottled water but tried the brita with our shitty city water and it was a huge improvement
