Part of me thinks the media is jumping all over this because he is the only one that is actually saying something. All the other candidates are just spewing talking points and going about their normal business not stirring up any controversy. Trump isn't like that and it has the media sporting raging news boner.

Maybe because it's easier to attack him than address the issues at hand, if they keep him in the negative spot light, then that light is not on their own flaws. It keeps their name in the media and as a result in people minds. Anything they say against Trump also really can't fly back at them.

If candidate "A" were to "attack" Trump for something stupid he says on an issue then candidate "B" would basically need to back what Trump is saying to attack candidate "A" on it.

This also allow the candidates to talk about the issues without really saying anything other than they do not agree with Trump... Never really saying their own views or addressing the issue.
