OP, since it became corporate, news as you and I grew up watching and reading, doesn't exist anymore. It probably never will again. It is now called "opinion making."

<50%

"The former CNN reporter Lyon clarified without any doubts that the CNN channel manipulates, fabricates news and follows restrictiveness when broadcasting news, stressing that the Channel receives money from the U.S. government and other countries? governments in exchange for news content."

Ex- CNN Reporter: I Received Orders to Manipulate News to Demonize Syria and Iran - peaceforall's Blog - Blogster

It has simply been decided, by whoever, that they don't want Trump as president. And all media outlets (not just CNN) are merely following that paid directive.

PornoMonster 07-09-2015 11:54 PM

Both sides are scared. Trump isn't following the political "RULES"
saying Non PC correct stuff.
LOL, I find it VERY funny, especially when people are trying to be so Serious.
He is fucking up the political money machine game, and the back scratching on both sides.
I can't wait for the debates.... HA

Maybe he did make to big of a blanket statement, but UMMMM look how many things the other candidates have said wrongly, Not PC, or just lies (cough Clinton).
Or maybe the truth hurts..... HA

Heh-heh...I point out that the media (including Fox News) has it out for Trump. They are all (including Fox News...Charles Krauthammer called Trump a "rodeo clown" the other day on Fox News) doing everything they can to try and force him out of the Presidential race.

That's all.

I don't really care if some of you didn't listen to Trump's full announcement speech where he was CLEARLY talking about ILLEGAL immigration. Cherry picking that he said "Mexico is sending" when he clearly trying to say that Mexico was trying to push their criminals & undesirables into the U.S. illegally is just your own bias.

What I was pointing out, and it should concern everyone...is that the media is SHAPING the "news" and public opinion instead of reporting it.

I gave you a perfect example in the original post.

And instead of that being the point of discussion...the thread turns into yet another one of everyone telling us how they feel about Trump and politics and Republicans VS Democrats.

Bad news...nobody here (or anywhere) really gives a flying fuck about how any of us "feel" about anything.

But the media's hypocrisy and double standards and pushing political agenda's is something we should ALL worry about.
A free press is crucial to a Democracy.

And when we have a press with an agenda, it's not healthy for our society.

That is not entirely accurate. Only those illegal aliens, who crossed the border illegally, have committed a crime.

However, many illegal aliens in the US crossed the border 100% legally (using a student visa, tourist visa, etc) and simply stayed beyond the expiration date on their visa. That is not a crime whatsoever. That is a civil offense. So those types of illegal aliens have not commited any crime by simply being an illegal alien.

Yes I get that, although its a low level misdemeanor which is why its not enforced as much as it should be.

And for the record, I'm not defending illegals. I'm actually glad its being talked about, but Trump could give two shits about it. He is just throwing out there the most controversial thing he can come up with to get the media to stay focused on him. Let's face facts here. If someone is in a country and they have not filled out the proper documentation for them to stay, visit or live then they are commiting a crime.

Equate it to spitting on the sidewalk if you want but it IS a crime. I live in Washington Heights in NYC. Almost 100% latin. Guess how many do not speak English at all and are most likely here illegally? LOL

And yet they walk around like it's THEIR country and I'M the asshole idiot for speaking English. It is kind of sickening. But America allows all this "illegal" immigration because who will cut the lawns, clean the toilets and deliver us our food? NEVER forget that (corporate) America loves its' slaves. America was built on slave labor remember (blacks, Chinese, now the Mexicans).

PAR 07-10-2015 08:35 AM

Why would the people running against Trump spend time "attacking" him, and distance themselves from him...?

Maybe because it's easier to attack him than address the issues at hand, if they keep him in the negative spot light, then that light is not on their own flaws. It keeps their name in the media and as a result in people minds. Anything they say against Trump also really can't fly back at them.

If candidate "A" were to "attack" Trump for something stupid he says on an issue then candidate "B" would basically need to back what Trump is saying to attack candidate "A" on it.

This also allow the candidates to talk about the issues without really saying anything other than they do not agree with Trump... Never really saying their own views or addressing the issue.

I posted that this discussion was about the media manipulating the public and shaping the news instead of just reporting it.
I stated that nobody cares to read what any or our own personal political bias is or our opinions.
I pointed out that a free press is essential to a democracy instead of a press that is trying to shape events.

And then the first 2 replies were crockett and jswenson telling us all how they feel about trump and their opinion on politics.

Donald Trump drama is selling ads, creating traffic and selling newspapers.

Bernie Sanders is scary to the vested powers and Hillary is the morphing candidate.
Half (or more) of the Republican candidates are not electable. The former clown-in-chief's brother is running -- who cares ...

Welcome to the BoZo bus ...

Donald Trump is the drama queen on the BoZo bus so the press pokes him with a stick because Donald Trump seems to like the attention so much.

A candidate needs to be controversial to get past The Donald

Does anyone here WANT or CARE to hear what I THINK about Donald Trump or the Republican candidates or Hillary Clinton?

What? You're kidding me? I thought that you were all waiting breathlessly for that?

And yet...the replies STILL have nothing to do with what I was posting about originally.
It's still people posting under the delusion that their thoughts on politics are so interesting that we all can't wait to read them and change the world. :(

It's exactly what I'm talking about.

The "Free Press" isn't a free press. It's controlled by the govt. and the two ruling parties.

Look at what the "Free Press" did during the war in Iraq. They bowed down to the Bush Administration and instead of actually covering what was going on in the war...they were "embedded" with the fucking troops!

How in the hell could they report ANYTHING critical of the U.S. invasion when they are staring into the eyes of U.S. soldiers?
And then they bowed down again and accepted it when they were told they couldn't take pictures of video of U.S. soldiers in coffins coming back home. :(

That wasn't a "Free Press" or any type of journalism.
All that we were told was that every soldier there was a "hero" and "defending our freedom"

And it's continued on to the point now that the media pretty much just takes it's marching orders from the Administration and the DNC & RNC.

dyna mo 07-10-2015 10:48 AM

it seems to me this upcoming political cycle will be completely fucked & ridiculous. with click bait and social media and ad dollars driving the internet and tv more than ever, the hyperbole in the media will be out of sight. and someone like Trump, who shoots from the hip because he doesn't dumb down his comments through a litany of handlers and media expert consultants trying to not upset the lowest common denominator, will be easy fodder for a mean-spirited media/internet/tv/etc.

Trump inherited his fortune, dude. He's lost investors money in so many businesses and has been bankrupt multiple times. He ruined a football league and leases out his name for money, one of the few things he doesn't lose on.

He has always been a clown, this should not be disputed by either "side".

Okay, he's a clown, that you have spent several days trolling online. Which he will never, ever see.

What does that make you? A clown troll?

Jel 07-10-2015 02:08 PM

This thread reminds me of all the tube/manwin hating, and how every biz thread for a while degenerated into that sport. Instead of doing what you can do, or looking at what your 'side' can do, it's all about the other person, the other side, and what 'they' do or don't do.

That's human nature, but I'd have thought a board populated by self-employed business people had a bit more savvy than to fall for that shit, especially when it's so obvious. Like a few have mentioned, no different than clickbait and yet here's a bunch of people proverbially clicking away :1orglaugh

Robbie... the non-answers in this thread are all the answers you need to your OP.

CDSmith 07-10-2015 02:17 PM

I can concede the point he is clown-ish. He's also a lot of other things, not the least of which is he's a successful businessman who isn't given to making rash decisions, who often consults his trusted top underlings before choosing a course, and isn't afraid to go for the jugular when the situation warrants. Yes, he's had many egregious failures, but what truly successful person hasn't? Yet he's still in the game as one of the richest entities in America in spite of those failures. He utters plenty of off-color statements yet maintains a staunch no-shit attitude with an almost nonexistant tolerance for foolishness or anything unproductive he percieves. Sounds to me like someone whose campaign run might be worth keeping an eye on.

But yeah that hair, total clown town.

I think he was taken seriously until right after 'The Art Of The Deal', his book in the eighties. But then he started fucking up, losing money (and deals), going bankrupt....but he was smart enough to use his fame to catapult him into ever higher stratospheres of society.

I would say Donald Trump is the living embodiment of 'failing upwards' (along with George W. Bush) and perhaps the Peter Principle. If he ever does release his financials (he won't) the world will see the extent of his business 'genus' (or lack thereof).
