Add to this the number of apps etc that simply stream the audio from youtube and people that stream their songs rather than buy them..

On my TV's, if I open youtube, it will show a default list of popular videos - charlie bit my finger, evolution of dance etc. It was like that for years and only recently just stopped. My point is that there are also a shit ton of ways like this where videos get views that we never think of, That said, its highly unlikely that the views are real..
