                          There is always one - lol - I haven't been up there, is Catalan the first language? - For example, if I walked into a bank would I be expected to speak Catalan or Spanish?..

                          I am in Valencia and to be honest I have never heard anyone speak Catalan, only Spanish...

                              You are over-thinking it Eddy... Wherever I am in the world and whatever language is spoken - When I am in the bank, I like to think that the gun speaks for itself...

                                      I lived in Barca for awhile, years ago.
                                      We are foreigners. Spanish is fine. Probably score some points if you learn a few words though.

                                          Yep but if your kids go to school there, they get more than 1/2 their lessons in Valencian.
                                          which is exactly the same as Catalan, just renamed.

                                          The further north you go in the province you get more Valencian spoken, Alicante down, you never hear it.
