Actually, it could mean that you're far MORE likely to be killed by a gun cuz you have no way of protecting yourself from armed criminals. And you see, I do. Honest people usually don't go around shooting people & criminals are gonna get guns anyway cuz...well...they're criminals.

Firstly, you've ignored that statistics about gun deaths in this country since we got rid of semi-automatic weapons.

That doesn't surprise me, but you don't understand that we don't pull guns on people in this country. If you have a problem with someone you may have to sort it out with your fists but that's usually as far as it goes.

We don't have drive-by shootings here. We don't even have people on the streets holding out empty polystyrene coffee cups begging for money.

And that's the way we like it... and those are the facts.

What you're saying above is only in urban areas in this country whichjleads me to believe either you've never been here or you've never been to a major metropolitan city here, and you're getting most of this from movies & TV.. Most of the country is not like this except for trhe wack-os here & there that shoot up the schools.

4.00 firearms-related homicides for every 100,000 people in the USA in 1998.

I'm not denying your statistics... Did you miss the "bat" part? Now look up your violent crime per capita for ALL weapons etc in OZ. Point being, if someone wants you dead, they WILL kill you. A gun just makes it easier in some cases.

Do the same for a country such as Japan where guns have been banned for years as well. It will be alot more 'inline' with US crime stats than you'll care to believe. Just as Aussie stats will reflect or soon will be reflecting, given that you just had guns taken away a short time ago.
