NOT using JW Player people, GOT IT?? Move along now. |
I'm sure the porn nerd dude gets his share of sales alright but strikes me as a penny pinchers in areas he doesn't need to be, also thinks real low of his consumer base :(
I was talking to a real estate salesmen about how haggling goes with sales. He'll close on a house with people for $250k+ and there is a fee for a mandatory inspection that is $100, people will go back and forth fighting this fee for hours or even over the course of a week when it is negligible in ratio to the house fee. I'm wondering if the lean years of the Porn Nerd starting from nothing, as he said, is still in him and hence his penny pinching. Much like a dog that was starved (my sister has one) will still hide food though it's plentiful. My Grandpa went through the Great Depression and it turned him into a bit of a penny pincher in certain areas, he was a multimillionaire. Just got back from visiting him, 93rd birthday, he'll be dead in the next 6 months. |

Anyway, I'm going with the FREE HTML5 alternative yet somehow people miss this too and want to continue this fake 'drama'. Go for it, I'm done. Quote:

You really need to put this into perspective to be fair. If you have one site, they charge $149 per year. At average ticket price of $30, your one site would need to generate 5 joins to pay for this. For 10 sites, they charge $300 per year which works out to $30 per site. At average ticket price, this would mean you would need to generate 1 join per site per year to pay for this. In your case, having 80+ sites, they are charging you circa $15 per site per year which equates to 1/2 a join per site to make it pay for itself. Of course there's the alternative you took - forget about JWPlayer and go for a completely free solution. |
Call me crazy, but Can't you get the PRO version for ONE site..Host your video with them, and embed it on multiple sites?
I don't know..I have a "Self Hosed" player, and it only tracks the video called...so I think you could host all the videos on a single site, and then embed them everywhere.....worth a shot. |
I've never even run into this problem... so weird. Video players are free... find a free one

Use Video JS you can customize it with CSS and add your logo. It works with both html5 video and also plays mp4 via flash (as a fallback when html5 is not available).

why not get something custom made for your entire network ?
pay one time enjoy lifetime or until it gets outdated. |
Open Source just means you can view the source code for free. It doesn't mean you can use it for free, although that is the case for the majority of open source. MIT or Apache licenses are good for absolutely free.
You might want to look into HTML5 Video Player | Video.js |
