I started using this a long time ago. It's way easy to use html5 and using EasyFLV to convert videos it works in all modern browsers. No more players. I'm surprised more people aren't already using it, especially in porn.

I tried to buy the commercial version but they quoted me an INSANE price. Would ANYONE on here pay upwards of $1200+ yearly for life for an Open Source video player? Of course not.

Just because software is open source does not mean it is licensed under GPL. JWPlayer for instance is open source and as I mentioned already it is covered under the Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 4.0 license.

I am sorry I was being snarky in this thread, especially to you. I do not understand the disctinctions regarding "Open Source". To ME that means free so when I saw JW Player charging so much for something I consider Open Source (and they claim this on their site) I was upset and looked for other alternatives.

I pay for software, believe me. My computer is full of paid software. LOL I should've just asked for alternatives and be done with it. Sorry i caused all this.....drama. :)

Because you can't have your custom ads (pre-rolls, post-rolls, on-pause, on-click popups etc) and branding logos in the player window using just HTML. Check this out for example: KVS Player Pro

P.S. In the demo player all ads are empty and all logs (top left and bottom right ones) are linked to ign.com because I don't want to put commercial adds over those videos to not violate the IGN TOS. In your case there could be cam previews, banners, paysite popups or anything else - no limits at all.

I was talking to a real estate salesmen about how haggling goes with sales. Their response of $1200+ for a yearly fee was insane! So not knowing much about this or that tech issue I asked for a way to remove the logo. But based on the OUTRAGE this thread produced - as if I'm the only human being who ever tried to get a free copy or trade for a copy of software - really surprises me.

Anyway, I'm going with the FREE HTML5 alternative yet somehow people miss this too and want to continue this fake 'drama'. Go for it, I'm done.

That isn't entirely true even though the open source community wants it to be. There are numerous variations on open source and one of those is a license that is extended for free use on a non-commercial basis.

You really need to put this into perspective to be fair.

If you have one site, they charge $149 per year. At average ticket price of $30, your one site would need to generate 5 joins to pay for this.

For 10 sites, they charge $300 per year which works out to $30 per site. At average ticket price, this would mean you would need to generate 1 join per site per year to pay for this.

In your case, having 80+ sites, they are charging you circa $15 per site per year which equates to 1/2 a join per site to make it pay for itself.

Of course there's the alternative you took - forget about JWPlayer and go for a completely free solution.

Call me crazy, but Can't you get the PRO version for ONE site..Host your video with them, and embed it on multiple sites?

I don't know..I have a "Self Hosed" player, and it only tracks the video called...so I think you could host all the videos on a single site, and then embed them everywhere.....worth a shot.

Use Video JS you can customize it with CSS and add your logo. It works with both html5 video and also plays mp4 via flash (as a fallback when html5 is not available).

why not get something custom made for your entire network ?

Open Source just means you can view the source code for free. It doesn't mean you can use it for free, although that is the case for the majority of open source. MIT or Apache licenses are good for absolutely free.
