    Business SM marketing - Facebook?

Do any of you guys use Facebook as part of your social media marketing plan?

I've had good results with other platforms, but for adult marketing Facebook just doesn't seem to jive in my experience. While I've had effective *mainstream* company pages there, the FB page for my main adult site/brand just languishes.

A lot of it IMO is who the hell seriously follows and interacts with a porn site on there? People's parents & aunts & uncles & grandparents are on FB, or their bosses, etc - not the types you want to broadcast your porn preferences to.

Yet I've heard some companies find it useful, or at least did a few years ago. Obviously each platform has its own strategies and there's a lot you can do if you figure out some of the more subtle tricks, but this one just doesn't seem to be worth the time & effort these days. Thoughts?

Of course. I'm not talking basic TOS stuff, we all know how that works - this is about marketing strategies and ROI thereof.

Organic Facebook referrals are worth $1 each to me -- they come from other peoples pages ;) Like OPM, get the user to promote you on his page in Facebook.

From all apearances, the random porn link is not the same issue as a user spamming his porn links all day in Facebook's eyes.

What can you suggest instead of facebook? I also have almost the same opinion about facebook, but I am not sure that Twitter or Insta will convert more well, may be I am wrong

They do depending on your business, sometimes even better than targeted ads (and they're free!). They'll delete your posts quickly or even kick you out if you aren't careful though.

What sets Facebook apart - and makes it a challenge for adult marketing - is that most users have a single account that includes, as I said, family members & bosses & such. So most of them aren't going to publicly interact with a porn site or repost related materials, even if they enjoy them in private. If anyone in my friends group started posting porn they'd probably get made fun of mercilessly. It's just not something you do.

Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, etc, are a lot less ubiquitous and people often have multiple accounts. Not to mention adult-friendly TOS. They're much easier platforms for porn and if you know what you're doing they can be a nice contribution to your overall marketing scheme.

Interesting. I hadn't even considered that, honestly not even familiar with how they work. Will look into it.

You mean "kick you out" for posting sexually explicit materials? So they're bound by the same TOS that the rest of the site is? So what makes these groups different from the rest of FB?

Do you have any examples of these groups? I'm just not seeing anything promising, though it's possible I'm just incompetent (likely, in this case). Searching groups for something like "nudes" brings up just a handful of random stuff, lots of it presented actually as "Interests" rather than "Pages" or "Community" and thus no posting format.

Looking for some other adult companies, most of their pages have very little engagement. Some of the really big names have surfer activity/comments but you'd expect that from strong existing reputation & brand - the small to medium ones don't seem well-repped on FB and I'm guessing there are good reasons for that.

Ah well, thinking the effort is better spent elsewhere. There are certainly other social media options to invest time in. If anyone else wants to chime in tho feel free, and thanks to everyone who already replied.

For some reason my mind went straight to a local small business, which works very well. I wouldn't know anything about promoting adult in facebook groups as an affiliate.
