                                      People search google more for addresses, and local information when out.
                                      Not to mention when out with friends and they look up info on a sports team, movie, etc..

                                      Toss in people at home watching a movie or TV show that then google some info on what they are watching or about to watch.

                                      It's easier to search these things on your phone vs. starting up your computer when you are not sitting at it.

                                      Breaking news; More people search porn when taking a crap than they did before they could easily do it on their phone.

                                                              Yet still to this day many sites redirect their mobile traffic..I thought it was silly to do this 2 years ago, but seeing it happen still today is absurd.

                                                              Youtube even does this with many videos where they wont let mobile users view the video unless you use their app.

                                                                          I think searching as a whole boosted dramatically as soon as browsers enabled you to search from the location bar instead of having to goto the "search bar" on the right. Anyway that and phones readily available on everyones person 24/7 whenever they need information they just open their phone browser quickly and search. Oh should also mention spellcheck, which allows people to quickly just throw misspelled words into a search and let it figure out what you mean without having to be meticulous about every word.
