Hello GFY'GANG,

I want to know where and how the people celebrate the first of may.
In my country where im born every year the people celebrate the working class day with a lot of meat eating and beer drinking with the family and friends at the lake or in their house yards.
The people where I live now don't give a shit that much for the 1st of may , they look on this day like it happened million years ago , they see on this like another legend, people don't care for any revolution from the past anymore they forget that days like this from the past define our societies,
fuck the TV revolution, power to the people !!!

I would like to hear in what countries how people look on this day!

I think USA will be different from EU or ASIA , but anyway I would like to hear how the democratic propaganda is treating the people around the globe.

The kids don't know what this day means , somewhere even the schools officialy dont teach about this anymore

Not sure why it's a different date. Apparently the US has tried to change the date to May 1 unsuccessfully.

But for our labor day, it's the end of the summer season. The boardwalks close for the season and we get ready for fall.

It's always on a Monday.

I'm in ex-Yugoslavian country. Most city mayors organize some kind of celebrations in the parks or squares, giving free food for people. There are lots of old people "fighting" for free food (something like this 1 or 2)

Socialism is the most degrading political system ever. Man becomes an animal in that system and some people are really lucky not to be born in part of the world corrupted by socialism.

-I can't quantify my hatred of the State. Preferences are ordinal.

-The absolute ruler may be a Nero, but he is sometimes Titus or Marcus Aurelius; the people is often Nero, and never Marcus Aurelius.

It's bad because we don't have basic institutions for creating wealth (institutions of private property, rule of law etc.). Corruption is really big, nanny state is destroying every incentive to invest and prosper. We're several decades behind West Europe in every way imaginable. Most people in my country react to the word "entrepreneur" the same way normal people react to word "pedophile". I wish we weren't behind the iron curtain after 1945. (we were something in between), it destroyed us completely.

Totally agree

I think that YU was a pilot project from the west power people to create an union from many countries, they made it and saw that the union was stable and growing fast and strong. After this they saw that the project is successful and destroy it to made only one big and strong union in Europe as EU today.
We got a lot space for enterpenuoring but with all that corruption its only a legend cuz all countries are sold way back few decades before, because the borders there are awesome for the black market witch is runed by the " democratic party's" from every country from the ex yu now.
There are lots of cash there the leaders in those country take only commission from all royalties as income cuz the big funds are going again in the pockets that are owned by few families well known in Europe, the old big blue blood tree .
The family is of Spain, the family from Italy, few families in France , Austria , the Bavarian one and etc. Check the history way back and look at the royal families in old Europe , they are the same ones , just with new blood and more sicretly , exactly the same families minus plus one or two.

When I was south didn't realized that , when I move north I saw the bigger picture.

It is national holiday in here. But it is not just about working class, etc. People who have graduated from gymnasium wear their graduation hats, "better folks" have picnics and such. Though I haven't wore my graduation hat after graduation or really have been on such picnic (I have popped to say hi, but not really stayed).

Not big on May the 1st, but I plan to celebrate May 4th ("May the 4th be with you". get it? nerd?). But since this is a Monday I will be doing my celebrating at a pub on Sunday, starting around 1:30pm, all damn day. Because its May the 4th! See? And..
