I agree you shouldn't kick someone when they are down, HOWEVER it's very hard to have sympathy for someone who behaves so badly when it could be avoided by simply not drinking if you have no idea how to handle it.

It's a shame there are some people too socially awkward to enjoy an event without getting drunk and belligerent. :2 cents:
