what is color "navy" in terms of clothing?

Once I ordered a navy coat via internet, came out to be black.
Now I ordered navy pants, same thing.

Fuck that, I mean it may be technically super super dark blue, but if label did not say navy I would assume they were black. They look black.

Thing is that my other "navy" purchases were the "correct" navy (mid-dark blue).
Just google images for example "navy suit" - it is clearly blue. Nothing even close to black.

exactly - its darker blue but not even close to black. There is also midnight navy which is even darker. I handle this each year when ordering Jersey sets for our softball team

colour blindness is fairly common. Most people just don't realize it. I have troubles with extremely dark blues and certain types of greens look brown to me.

I considered this, but out of 10 different online purchases 8 were actual navy (blue, dark blue etc) and 2 were almost black
I can tell very slim difference when comparing them to the actual black, but without comparison...
And when I google anything navy (navy coat, navy panst, navy suit) - all of then look right, so probably not color blind, just VERY VERY dark blue.

real and true navy is almost black. your military color. it should be black enough such that you need to put a black piece of cloth next to it to see it's not black.

It's a few shades darker than Crip blue.

cobalt is often called navy, but it's not. navy is much much darker, traditionally and historically. really, one should not be able to distinguish navy from black without close inspection.

                              nevertheless!

cobalt blue is often mistaken for navy blue. and designers/labels don't mind not following proper nomenclature, naming things navy blue when they are not. real and true navy blue is literally so close to black that one needs to put them side by side and look closely to see the difference.
