not trying to understand something that's not understandable, but i mean really- what the fuck? some articles i've read about his motivations claim such an act is beyond psychological problems. fucking bizzaro.
i'm still trying to wrap my brain around what that german pilot did.

Trying to understand something so irrational will just give you a headache - Learn from it and move on... -
that's why i mentioned i am not trying to understand it. i'm trying to come to grips with it, to deal with a terrible event in a sensible way.
nevertheless, there's nothing to learn from it.Comment

More bizarre stuff came out by now - like that he was on vacation near that area where he crashed the plane
This isnt over yetComment

Drones are still using hardware and software that is built and maintained by humans. There's almost no circumstance you can remove humans from the equation.

i hear ya, apparently he flew a glider around the region. a previous girlfriend also said he told her he was going to do something to change the system and have his name remembered.
this may sound weird, but when i read the articles about this, i gloss past his name to intentionally not put it in memory.Comment

i see. i'm not the sort to do that.
was reading about the people that swedish dude killed on that island. they all just stood there while he shot them all, many even just stood there while he reloaded multiple times waiting for their turn to die. i hope if i find myself in a similar sitch, i'd not go out like that.Comment

Maybe there can be more than one "time". For instance if you can avoid crazy pilots and the most negative parts of your own mind then your time would surely be extended.<!--BEGIN SIMUTRONICS PLAY BUTTON CODE -->

There is only one time. You either die or you don't. If you don't it wasn't time.
I believe we choose our life and have glimpses of the most important lessons and events - how we arrive at those lessons or events are our choice, but the lessons and events must happen. Dying being one of those events. Only once in this life.Comment

I agree with you on the part about death being an event that must happen. I don't believe everyone is born with an expiration date though. I believe that outside forces can alter the path of events. I would say I believe more in random chances than predetermined outcomes.<!--BEGIN SIMUTRONICS PLAY BUTTON CODE -->

I'm a "when it 's your time, it's your time" type of guy. Don't sweat the things you can't control. Sure, I noticed both pilots took two bathroom breaks each on my Friday flight to Vietnam - and it was only a two hour or so flight. And on an Airbus 320. And no crew member took their place in the cockpit. Seemed a little off. What's there to do? I went back to watching House of Cards.
I had 6 flights scheduled on Air Asia within 2 weeks of their December crash. Do I reschedule everything on another airline? Do I cancel what turned out to be an extraordinary vacation? NO! Enjoy the day and don't worry over things you can't control.

I hear ya. Didn't mean to imply a change in travel or interets. But I know I'll always be eyeballing thebpilots of future flights and saying to myself if this is how I go, no biggie, as I take my seat . )I'm a "when it 's your time, it's your time" type of guy. Not a single bit harder to understand than a 'normal' suicide. You just have a false preconception that human (and especially yours, of course) life worth anything to anyone but the human itself, and maybe a handful of his/her own relatives. It's a strong but very common delusion. Life of all these people didn't worth a fuck for this pilot who priced his own life as zero. Pretty much sure if he had a chance to kill a whole Spain, France and Germany he would have this done and this wouldn't be any much harder for him than killing just himself or crashing these people on the plane.
Looks like he just wanted to do two things - first, to die and secong - to die loudly.Comment
