Super Troopers 2 half way to idiegogo goal in 10hrs..

Why is it we get shit movies made from the studios yet it takes crowdfunding to get a part 2 of such an awesome movie, which has been promised for years and very obviously has a cult fan base following.

They can get 2 million to make the movie but are doing this crowdfunding to squeeze extra money out of the idiot masses.

no shit.. plus the less they have to depend on the studios money the more they can make from sales in the end I'm sure, or at least negotiate a better deal for it.

geez, i only hope by doing this they get more creative control or something. like they can't get funding from a studio.

Normally, I would think that and potentiality it's still true, but I know they have had a very hard time getting the funding for this movie. They have been shopping around for quite some time trying to get the funding.

Keep in mind the original wasn't a some box office hit , it was more of a cult classic and it stands to reason a squeal would be the same.

The original cost 3 million to produce and sold 18 million domestically. Yes it was a profit maker, but it certainly wasn't a block buster. (Keep in mind 18 million was gross ticket sales not profit and of course doesn't include DVD/PPV sales )

How much money was made on the first one? That's your prime indicator right there.

I don't care for these style of movies, but I know they are popular. The question is, are they popular with paying people or cult popular and never make any money?

It looks like they couldn't get studio funding for the first one either: ‘Super Troopers 2′ Needs $15 Million Budget; Could Use Kickstarter

The original did not make much at the box office at all: Super Troopers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hard to blame a studio for not kicking in on that.

I thought it made more money. It was hilarious and it is one of those movies you have to watch every few years and it never gets old.

First rule of making movies is to use someone else's money.
