People don't realize just how much agriculture there is in California

Yes you are right.. it's because "Man" diverted the rivers and use far too much of the water.. See it's Man Made water shortage, because man requires more water than is available..

That article is so fucked on so many levels and is geared towards a profit making scheme based on big business. The same people who want to tax those who use SOLAR PANELS!
"Moreover, we don’t have to shut down that many farms, we just have to shut down the least valuable farms and use water more efficiently." So they decide which farms are most valuable and it's not based on water efficiency ![]() There's always been a power play for water & electricity in California and there always will be until half the state finally floats off into the ocean. ![]() PS. I'm sick of these links to spammy FACEBOOK articles geared at tracking GFY users. Crap! |

the article doesn't even address the draining of the acquifers and the ground water depletion.
not to mention we are in fact in a drought. a weather drought not a we're low on water on account of some low profit farms so we're in a drought drought. this drought is a serious mother fucker. |

Ok well maybe it wasn't figs, truth is I have no fucking idea what they were but it was clearly some sort of farm and they were wasting a lot of water on it in the middle of the desert. This was just outside of Roswell, NM. |

Read the article. Using up all that water for agriculture is a BAD INVESTMENT considering the economic contribution of California agri to the state's bottom line.

As far as the water bottles. I saw a article or video about the amount of water the bottled water companies use. (people were bitching about them getting water too cheap from the govt and reselling it) According to that article, a single golf course uses more water in a day than the bottling companies do. |

Last week I took a trip to a town in California called Porterville in Tulare County. The homes in the east part of the town have no water, (over 600 dry city wells) and the west part has nut farms with flooded fields. It's crazy,, Half a town has no water and nobody cares

This was in Texas last summer, I forget what lake it was. That's a boat ramp and it was obviously well out of the water. In fact the water was a few thousand feet away. Where I took this picture was likely 10ft under water at the time that boat ramp was last used. ![]() I think it's been quite a while since boats were left unattended here.. ![]() It was like this all over the place in Texas and there were next to no open boat ramps on any of the lakes unless it was on a River with water level controlled by dams. This was a waterfall at a previous time, not too long ago.. ![]() |
