They both are very successful... :) To bad Steve Jobs died so early... Who knows what else he would made... :(
|
Both are winners ! They've changed our life in so many ways :thumbsup
|
Huge legacies for both men but I'd rather have Gates', the change he's bringing to the world is far more profound and altruistic than the change Jobs has brought about.
Jobs is kind of a Henry Ford and Andy Warhol combination, Gates is every nerd in every high school yearbook ever printed with some Andrew Carnegie and Albert Schweitzer thrown in. |

Job's hippie visionary status had him go with eastern medicine initially which let the cancer progress and it killed him. oops
|
If the two were racing motorcycles Gates would be on the one with more lower end torque and Jobs's ride would have more top end. Gates smoked him out of the gate and led most of the way, but -- although he fell off around the 3/4 mile mark and died -- Jobs's bike rode itself through to a full-length finish.
Did I say finish? The race ain't over yet. In fact it's never over. |

Man to man, as others stated Bill Gates does a lot to help people and Steve Jobs only looked to help himself. There is no comparison in my eyes, by man or tech. |
Apple won if you ask Jobs.
Gates won if you ask the people. Certain people will insist that Jobs won. |
|
28 Billion so far distributed to the masses by his foundation, another 1.2 billion this year. Winning - and this:
?The golden rule that all lives have equal value and we should treat people as we would like to be treated.? Bill Gates |
Who won?
I think it's a moot point now. Gates has done everything he set out to do. Windows is still the bigger OS, but Apple puts out superior products with a much heftier price-tag. They both won. |

Now, if you invent something truly revolutionary, like fire, or the wheel, then sure. But not a slightly better iteration of a 3 decade product. |
I don't claim to know much about either men. From my limited knowledge, I would have to give the edge to Bill Gates.
As others have said, he made PCs and everything that comes with them available for all. Couldn't one argue that this paved the way for smartphones etc.? The iphone is a great product but isn't it just an improvement on the Blackberry. Likewise the ipad (also great) is just a derivation of the iphone - i.e. a bigger version which is more practical for certain purposes. |
But what if Gates didn't rip Jobs off with Microsoft's "Windows" OS? Then perhaps 90% of the world's computers would be Macs. No?
|
|
One is dead and the other is alive. It's a pretty safe bet as to which one "wins".
|
apple didnt win shit...its market are hipsters and people who like to pay 10x more for an AMD processor and not play games at all LOL...Ipads and iphones and Iwatches are overpriced gimmicks...bring no real value to the computer world nor did apple really innovate anything, jobs was just good at taking other peoples ideas and marketing it to people who wanted to look better than other people because they have a 1000$ phone made in china...
as far as who made the most $ then apple is the winner but who made the biggest mark in the computer world its not apple thats for sure... |

Now just imagine if Apple actually paid it's tax where it products were sold. |
Gates by a landslide. Both made unimaginable amounts of money. One has/is showing he knows what to do with it.

One could also mention/argue that a severely large percentage of Apple employment is Chinese. Not that this isn't also applicable to Microsoft, but I'm not sure to what degree. |

what did Apple actually ever invent? they just took things, dumbed them down, made them look pretty and then sold them for twice the money that on the other hand is pretty smart :winkwink: |

And let's not forget Paul Allen with Microsoft, either. :) |
