I've always been friendly with the US and have had pro-American ideals on a wide range of issues. But I also temper that feeling of goodwill with the memory of guys like that one bonehead at a Wyoming gas station (a northern state no less!) who looked at my Canadian twenty all dubious-like (back in the 80's) and said quite seriously "How do I know this is even real money?"

Or the other dufuss at a Florida gas station who kept repeating "We don't take Canadian (money)" after seeing "Bank of Canada" typed across the top of my AMERICAN traveller's cheque with fucking USD printed beside the amount.
Trust me, my American friends, when you're up here travelling I can assure you with 100% certainty that your american money is good anywhere you go. So I'm on day 3 of having the worst flu ever. I don't remember posting this shit yesterday at all. I'm changing my password. I was just talking to a Canadian colleague yesterday on Skype and as some of you know I lived overseas for 5 years without coming back to the states.
I have many Canadian affiliates, friends, etc. I'm the last person to pigeon hole people based on what country they're in. I've said so many times in posts over the years that I don't judge based on location or nationality but whatever. I was like WTF when I saw this post in my email. Ignore it.

Perhaps I'm missing the sarcasm if there is any.. But I didn't feel this was directed at the usa. Yet enter the anti-american guff no matter.
Is America perfect? Fuck no. There are a lot of terrible things going on. But I fervently believe that we still have a lot of truly awesome qualities and capabilities.
Americans themselves for the most part can still be really kind people. Of coarse there is a lot of dumb fucks who act like drones but if you want to blame someone, blame american media.

Speaking of which - I'm always amazed that so many people (especially Americans) have no clue who Philo T. Farnsworth is - and his pivotal role in basically inventing TV. It's as if his name was relegated to the dustbin of obscure inventors. Most everyone knows of Marconi, Edison, Bell, etc. But for a guy who made such a major change in the world...a vast majority of people have never heard of Farnsworth.
