I fly mine close to downtown. I've had cops stop and ask about it. I've had the fire department here to fish it out of the tree when the auto landing function decided to be a bit inaccurate. If I had carried one in my trunk, I could probably sell one each time I fly.

I've sold poster sized prints of this shot for $50 and licensed it to a few publications here locally. It's more than paid for my Phantom and it's upgrades. I can't wait to see what the Inspire can do.

nice pic :thumbsup

Shap I would love to hear what you think of it after flying it a bit. I am thinking of picking one up as well. It would be ideal for a Malibu film I am working on. They seem pretty stable. I have a couple friends that have the Inspire and it seems to be the best one on the market for the price right now.

Post some samples!

How is it? I was looking at the 3DR X8+ as a potential option. :thumbsup

How hard are those drones to fly?

Not hard at all. Most will have GPS lock and altitude control so you dont even need to have your hands on the remote for it to hoover.

I think you'll like the Inspire as you have the option to purchase two transmitters: one for someone to fly and another for someone to operate the camera. This was the biggest factor in my bartering for the Inspire, even with the support and software issues that DJI has become known for.

pornguy 03-11-2015 12:35 PM

If I want aerial photos like that I have to make my wife take the video camera up to the roof. :(

Jman 03-11-2015 12:41 PM

When you buy a property, what defines your "airspace" at what altitude can you justifiably shoot the drone down for invasion of privacy... If you have the right to do so?

I have been considering a DJ Phantom II.

I don't think I need their top of the line (Inspire). It's bloody expensive too.

I have one, the Vision+ has been a nightmare for them and the camera on the Vision leaves a lot to be desired, though the photo I took at the top was taken with that camera.

Thanks. :) Yes that was what I was thinking too. I like the idea of the bigger Do It Yourself drones but I don't have any free time do do all the setup and learn the software. Down the road that is appealing but for right now I just need a basic quality drone to shoot 4k on my next film. :thumbsup

I would happily come shoot it for you. :winkwink:

But what fun would that be for you?

i want one!

They are using drones to fly pounds of meth over the border now, local news talks about it a lot ever since one crashed with 6 pounds of crystal in a parking lot near the border. Make sure you do not overload them and take an extra trip LOL

You can plot out coordinates on a map for them to travel and they will fly via GPS on autopilot.

Even the sub-$1000 models can do this.

Exactly! :-)

I am leaning toward the Iris+ now. Still doing some investigating. :thumbsup

As long as the journey isn't more than 18 minutes or 9 minutes if you want your drone back.

In the US, you dont own a single millimeter of airspace above your property and shooting at ANY aircraft is illegal.

If you've ever flown one, you know that 18 minutes is plenty of time. These things are capable of going quite the distance.

Drake 03-29-2015 08:36 PM

Don't have one, but want one.

brassmonkey 03-29-2015 11:11 PM

How do you think those drones would stand up to a 6 gauge ?

I find it interesting all the un-informed knee jerk responses people have over the drones. I would shoot it down etc. It's like a blind hatred for something they are afraid of. I don't get it at all. People are always afraid of what they don't understand :error

Drones are a part of life and will soon be everywhere. They are not by default peeping toms any more than a pair of binoculars is. They are not by default weapons either, any more than an axe is. Guess what drones are selling in mass qualities and will only get cheaper, better, and more prevalent. They are way past the toy stage and are becoming excellent tools for hundreds if not thousands of uses. :2 cents:

There has been no reports of any serious injury from one anywhere. They are legal to fly without a license in most areas under 500 feet. New drone laws are being drafted now.

Here is a good video of hysterical drone "victim" :)

LeRoy 03-30-2015 11:41 AM

Flew my drone at the forum and I have some video of the naked dodge ball event :)

Blow me.

I think drone enthusiasts should fear my shotgun. Because if that shit comes anywhere near my home or my family then the first shot is for the drone and the second one will be for its pilot. If the police and government won't protect my right to be left alone and in peace then I have a constitutional right to do it myself.

At first I thought you seemed like a decent guy, but now I see a paranoid nut case showing up and posting under your name.

You have no rights in jail :winkwink: Shoot down my drone and that's where you will be.

I am a decent guy but only to a certain point. Push me too far and I'll have no problem going old school on someone. In short leave me alone and I'm happy to leave everyone else alone.

Now as far as things like google glass, drones, etc.

If the geeks want to play with their toys then I have no problem with that. I also don't give a rat's ass about all the pseudo verbal diarrhea arguments that nerds like to spew about the future, progress, etc. But if just one of them brings any of that shit anywhere near my face then I'll put that mother fucking nerd down faster than I would a rabid dog.

Plus I'll personally call the cops on myself and the media. Because I've done porn long enough to know how turn the whole entire situation into one big media frenzy circus.

I'll turn this into a hot political issue and since I've got no prior criminal arrests... With the political controversy, maybe a plea bargain and good behavior I'll be out in 3 to 4 years with a book deal and a shitload of reporters wanting to talk to me.

In the end there will be every single American conservative Redneck and Google hating hippie organization paying me to come talk about our Right To Have Our Privacy Protected.
