Here in LA, the cops are called a gang of Blue
It's because they never do anything with just one or two cops. I've had 6 cops at my front door because they caught someone else using my identity.
In a perfect world, what you are asking for might happen, but LA is not a perfect world and the cops here get more training than most police. Shit happens, if you are tased and keep going, then grab a gun, every cop out there will react the same way, shoot the idiot! Doesn't matter how many bullets after the first one does it?

Kinda like these 2 little old ladies delivering newspapers in Torrance, LAPD thought they were a 6'3" black guy so they just started firing into the back of their truck.
LAPD should have told them not to resist.

mentally ill people are prone to resist arrest. what do to in this kind of situation? just mark it up to an unavoidable casualty? or try to look for ways to curb these incidents?

He didn't get shot for having mental issues.
He got shot for causing a problem that required police intervention, confronting police, refusing police orders, refusing to submit to police officers, being tased, and STILL going after a police officer's firearm.
I understand this guy had mental issues. However, that doesn't make it acceptable for him to do whatever he wants. These police officers just prevented a mentally ill with a long history of violent confrontations from arming himself and shooting at police officers and the general public.Herschel Savage

This is the kind of comment that drives me nuts. NATURALLY a million different decisions could have been made by everyone at any point in the space / time continuum leading up to this event which was captured on video. This is usually where people pretend it was the parents fault, or the aunt, or some idiot who gives a royal fuck who. If we're just wildly speculating about what could have happened then why don't we just pretend he could have sprouted his wings and his horn and flown away with a virgin over the rainbow? So why didn't he do that?
The video shows what it shows and we comment on what we've seen. Those are the rules. The cop in the video at the end says all he needed to say to make it a justifiable killing. 1. He was suspect. 2. He reached for a gun. Period. That is not a high enough standard in my personal view and I shared it.
