Who gives a shit how many whites black South Africans kill. They were treated as being less than human and killed for any random reason, for a very long time. Obviously, they are going to act like this for a very long time.

Well... I'll tell you what little I've seen. I grew up in Alaska. My father was a brown bear guide. Alaskan brown bear for most of my life if not all, has been the most expensive animal to hunt. So, of course there were many über wealthy and famous people coming each summer.

One guy I met one summer was a German guy with a lot of real estate in South Africa. I don't remember who he was, I remember his money was old money. I remember his pictures and him claiming to own the largest log house in the world at the time, which looked like a mid sized ski resort. To someone surrounded by log homes In a state that is full of them, that was astounding. He was so impressed by my friend and my ability to endure great hardship, hole for days, live off the land, our familiarity with weapons etc etc etc that he offered us a job.

He offered us a lot of money.

This job was to do two things.

1) kill poachers on his land
2) kill any black person on his land

He bluntly told us to make a list of weapons and supplies..., anything we wanted and it would be waitng for us.

This was a time as anyone over 40 will remember that African elephants, rhinos and other similar animals were being hunted to extinction just for their ivory or horns. So frankly, I had little sympathy for the poachers.

As I asked questions things took a very dark turn.

I was concerned about how you'd discern between a poacher or just some hiker etc etc etc etc and how you'd know you were in the right to shoot someone and he calmly examined that any black guy on his land without written permission could be shot with no consequences. So if they were black, it was irrelevant. Shoot them anyway.

This began my interest in apartheid, though it ended I believe, the next year. Was everything he said true? It didn't take too much research to realize it was 100% plausible. It was hard for me to imagine laws that regarded people as lower than stray dogs... as sub human. But that's basically what it was.

There is no comparison in the US. Blacks, through the Civil
Rights movement were still the minority. They didn't control the government, make the laws, police the streets and so on. If someone came to the US and took your land, killed your families and treated you like an animal for a generation or two, raping and killing your people, your friends, your family?.. you honestly think all will be forgiven simply because the law changed? Of course not. African nations, follow the Middle East as some of the most unstable fuck story's on the planet. It's going to take many generations for them to get it together.

I'm not saying it's ok for him to be attacked (though he also looked like the belligerent and deserving of it). I'm saying both sides have been killing and raping each other for a century or more and that's a factor as it pertains to motivation, hostility and aggression towards on another.

Or every story of every civilization that ever existed for any significant period of time in the history of the world. The difference is that South African blacks (you know, the ones who historically sold your ancestors into slavery) were alive for apartheid and it's direct effects.

Sure its more recent. However there are plenty of native americans who are still alive who were taken from their families put into 'schools' and abused sexually and physically. i understand what you are getting at but we shouldn't be dismissing the behavior as acceptable due their prior treatment.
