Tech TGPX Updated

I've just released an update to TGPX by JMBSoft on Github.

https://github.com/adultking/TGPX-Updated

It's been modified to be compatible with PHP 5.5 and should be fine with PHP 5.6

Please let me know if there are any issues. I intend to maintain this part time going forward.

I'm also working on an updated TubeX with HTML5 player and updated code for PHP 5.5 compatibility.

If anyone wants to collaborate on these let me know.

I've never sold this script, you are confused.

JMBSoft released this under the Apache license some time ago but it wouldn't work with later versions of PHP. This revision does work with current PHP versions.

It's free, anyone can download and modify it, or submit their own modifications.

My updates won't do this, they will be the same TubeX with an updated video player, mobile template support and bug fixes for PHP 5.5 compatibility

I recommend people move to Mechbunny but for those that can't these updates will keep existing installs going

Tell me please how to upgrade from my version to yours new version? i did upgrade once but it was years ago in time when jmb was active i do not wanna fail and make my sites downed.

Which version are you currently running ?

If it's the latest version all you need to do is overwrite files, if it's older then you need to do some extra work.

i tried to update a website version of TGPX (your version is the server version), and i was unable to make it work with php 5.5.
I had to mix some files of the old version and some files of the new version (i was lucky enough to make it work) and i'm only able to make it work with php 5.4
Also i have some error messages about mysql_connect function.

The version I posted to Github does work on PHP 5.5 however there will be a couple of warnings on the Admin side.

I will be releasing a code update in the next few days which will resolve the current issues.

It's very important to make sure that the updated version completely replaces the old version though.

There is one thing I can't seem te get working properly: when I want to do a search in Galleries, no galleries are displayed and the total amount is displayed as "?"

- TGP Pages Templates, after saving or save and build the template input box goes blank. Not a problem if cutting and pasting templates from a text file.

Not really a bug, but probably annoying to anybody who manually crops their thumbs.
- Search Galleries -> Crop - The crop window always opens on the left most side of the screen with a small scrollable area where the thumbs show up.
- Is there any way to enlarge the thumb area instead of scrolling.

I'll take a look at those issues. The first bug you mentioned has been fixed.

The update isn't available yet, but if you're happy with the version you have there is no need to update. However if you move from MySQL to MariaDB or if you upgrade PHP you may need to move to the most recent version.

I'll post in this thread once I have committed the update to Github.

He decided to close down but was nice enough to release all the source code to his scripts, which is why anybody can take them and make them better.

I used TGPX extensively so I decided to fix some issues related to later versions of PHP and have also released the updated versions source code on Github that anyone can download. I've not added features, just kept the script compatible with updated versions of PHP / MySQL

Make a backup before you start just in case but I have upgraded several live sites without any issues at all.

I have moved TGPX to a new location in preparation for committing the next update.

You can download the script using the download as zip button on the right hand side of the page.

As with the original release by JMB when he made it open source, anyone can use this, anyone can fork the repo and make their own changes and anyone can release new versions.

If anyone wants to suggest code changes then I'm happy to merge anything that's useful into the repository.

I'm making a few changes to the admin side of things in response to some requests, if anyone has some last minute things they need fixed then now is the time to let me know as I won't have time to work on this again this year.

You can use ImageMagick but for most people installing ImageMagick on their servers is too difficult.
