Well, to honestly answer your question: an East Harlem ghetto (barrio?) theater is where I go when the Colombian chick I'm banging wants to go see a movie "down the block".
Given a choice, now that I have sampled the various hood theaters, I would take a cab downtown, yes.

True story. Years ago, maybe 2001 or so, I went to a screening for Vanilla Sky at a theater on Broadway just north of Houston St, right near NYU.
Right after my girlfriend and I sat down, a really fat white couple sat behind us. Soon after the movie started, I heard them unwrapping something which was apparently wrapped in crinkled aluminum foil. Then I smelled a disgusting smell which I had never smelled before, so I whispered to my girlfriend "What's that smell?" She told me it was bologna (she had white trash roots)!!! It was disgusting. Soon after they finished their sandwiches, I heard them opening what appeared to be a bag of chips, but once they managed to get it open, I recognized the distinct smell of Funyuns. It was absolutely disgusting.
After the movie, I was just absolutely fucking livid. The tickets were free, but in order to get the free tickets you had to be a member of a film/fashion/art/music non-profit called GenArt. Memberships at the time were not cheap, and there was a screening process, so I couldn't understand how those ugly white trash losers got their tickets. I'm guessing that maybe a member gave a pair of tickets to one of their hillbilly cousins or something. It was horrible.

BTW, there's a really great taco place on the south side of E. 116th St between either Lex & 3rd or 3rd & 2nd. I don't know the name of it but there's a big Mexican flag on the awning. There's really nowhere to sit, maybe just a couple tables but they have really, really good tacos Al Pastor. Probably the best I've had in NYC.

I've only smelled it once (as highlighted in a previous post) but have never actually tasted it. Why's it so cheap? How is it cured differently than something like, say, soppressata? I guess Grape could probably tell us too, but he's proven to be upwardly mobile, and even though he still has that same trailer trash mindset, he probably hasn't tasted bologna in a good 15 years or so. Good for him.
You, on the other hand, are still a lowly piece of white trash meter maid, so you probably eat that crap daily.

Wrong again, wanker. I'm supervising management for municipal bylaw for the city - with retirement and full pension in just 15 years. Coupled with my military pension, company earnings and the wife's salary, benefits, stock options and various investments...we'll continue living our middle class lives long into retirement.
