I'm scared to death of cops... I once got a ticket for driving with a suspended license because my insurance policy expired, so they towed my car away! I was so scared, I thought the cop was going to arrest me but he didn't. I had to pay over 1k to get the car out of the pound, but when I went to court I only had to pay a $10 fee for a processing fee after I showed proof of insurance...

That incident made me EXTREMEMLY paranoid of cops, everytime I see one in my rearview mirror I feel like I have a heart attack even though I didn't do anything illegal, and I will even drive out of the way to avoid the cop. I am so paranoid, I call the DMV every week now to make sure my license is still valid, because i know they will suspend your license if you pay your insurance bill late (which I do often) Sometimes I don't even like to drive because cops make me paranoid.

And one time when I was driving to get some food, I could swear there was a cop following me! When I turned into Taco Bell, he turned into the shopping plaza after me and kept looking at me. I didn't do anything wrong at all! I don't know if he thought my car was suspicious or what, he never pulled me over, but I know he followed me and it creeped me out and traumatized me.

I see youre from Florida. What are the safest areas in Fort Lauderdale area?
I'm looking at apartment rentals on the net.

My friend said that Dade County is like gangland and to keep out of central florida and stay on the coast. Is this true?

One of the biggest regrets I have ever had was when i was driving alone the highway in an old 1/2 ton I didn't give a crap about and this cop started to follow me. It was an EMPTY road, and the cop stayed about 2 meters behind me for about 20 miles - just to piss me off. I had beaten him in court on a speeding ticket the week before and he was mad at me. I didn't think about it till after but I SHOULD have SLAMMED the brakes on and said i saw a rabbit or something. GUARENTEED he would have rear ended me. Tough to explain away on an open highway - esp with treadmarks and all. Damn I regret not doing that..... If only I could relive that moment in time.

I have never EVER seen someone in a luxury car get pulled over. I admit, if I was a cop, I would prolly feel more comfortable pulling over people in ghetto cars because than dealing with richer people. Is this my imagination or really true??

Good point but your kinda off... In experience a cop will tend to pull over a piece of shit before a nice car because he is doing what's called "profiling" or a "preternatural stop" It means he could really careless about the speed you were going or the tail light out but does know that in most cases the people with large amounts of dope or felony warrants drive shitty cars.. it's not the norm to find a guy wanted for murder driving a Lexus.. It's good police work sometimes but yes you can get your ass in some deep shit for too many preternatural stops..

i never knew this perception existed until the OJ trial in LA and you saw all the distrust and suspicion about the cops in certain parts of the city and how they were certain they were being unfairly targetted...It was an eye-opener for me.

Is it true that as U.S. citizens, we have the inalienable right to use Public Roads as a means of transportation?

As well, isn't it also true that as U.S. citizens, we have the inalienable right to use our property?

From my understanding, the Government does NOT have the right, to turn our "rights" into privelages.

A "Driver's License" does exactly that. When you sign for your license, you are "waiving" some of your "rights" and agreeing to abide by the "rules of the road".

I'm not sure if you were involved with the Highway Patrol or a traffic division... but if you were or have an opinion on this...

As a "Police Officer" swarn to protect our rights as citizens, how can you issue tickets, and fines to people for using their property (their vehicles), even taken to JAIL for not signing for these tickets (personal experience)? Doesn't it bother you to enforce laws against people that you took an oath to protect them from?

"The Police used to watch over the people... Now they are watching the people."

No, the only time that comes into play is during "click-it or ticket" week and the cop with the most seatbelt tickets gets some prizes or somehing..never participated so I'm not sure the prize

Last question. why do cops always ask " Where are you going?"

Or if you say for example " I'm going to work", they will ask
"Where do you work?" Is this standard procedure, are they trained to ask this or are they just being nosy? I hate people asking me a lot of questions, if its not relevant to the reason why they are pulling me over. If they are pulling me over for a traffic violation, why do they need to know where I work or where I'm going and all of that?

That should be obvious. They are trained to catch liars. If they think you're lying about where you're going chances are you're hiding something and there is more reason to investigate.

So make up your story before they aproach your car!

No quota maybe in your jurisdiction, but I wouldn't be surprised if they have quotas up here in Canada.

Is it normal to not arrest someone for driving with a suspended license but just tow their car?

And one time a cop pulled me over just because my license plate wasn't lighted! I didn't even know license plates had to be lit, i thought cars only had tail lights.... Didn't get a ticket tho, just a warning to get it fixed.

There was a case on the East Coast not too long ago where a Doctor was convicted of killing his wife on entirely circumstantial evidence. He offed her, loaded her into his plane, and dumped her body into the Atlantic. No one saw him kill her or dump her, and the body was never recovered.

Now they are watching the people."
roads are not "public" they are owned by the feds, states and counties (or parish if you live in asscrack louisiana) you're not waiving any right by signing a license, you're signing a contract allowing you to USE their property in a lawful manner

pothole on the highway, who's out there fixin it? a federal/state or local employee, not you

every cop i know LOVES porn.

I got pulled over for speeding on my drive home from the airport from the internext convention. the cop asked me where I was going and where I had been - since it was 3am(probaly thought I came from a bar and was drunk) - i told him I was just off the airplane from a porn convention. he was stoked. Let let me off just for telling him that and giving him one of my business cards so that he could know the url of my free site to get free porn... (as free porn isn't a bribe - or so he put it)

Actually, I have never seen an F.B.I. agent sledge hammering a road in my life. Usually I see contractors doing this type of work.

And as far as I know, there isn't a "Government Road Construction Crew" or anything of the sort.

Who do you think actually pays to have these roads built? Do you think the Government has been saving it's pennies over the past 8 months in a big piggy bank somewhere so they can gather enough funds to fill in the pot holes in the road on your street?

Wow you sound paranoid, but I'm practically the same way now. After getting a fucking ticket in a speed trap where I was clearly going the speed limit, I do not trust cops at all. Most of the time I get pulled over for bullshit like having a tail-light out... It's always something with these cops... It's like hey the guy has spiffy tires or his windows are tinted or seat-belt is not fastened or who knows maybe I didn't shave my beard and I look suspicious... Probably some cops are ok -- but the majority of them have a chip in their shoulder as they can't help but attribute self-importance to themselves in order to pretend like their job is to be respected... The need to give these Police officers some kind of ethics class -- so they understand their function in society... A police car is specifically designed to intimidate -- you don't see cops driving around pink cars -- well damnit they should...

When I can afford my own full time lawyer I will drive around town on the most god awful hydrolics and harrass every fucking cop in my town until I own every one of them... Then I'll buy them little pink ballerina outfits for Christmas.
