It's really important to understand that Gay guys from my generation only saw the stereotype of what being Gay was, a faggy femmy fuck. When they accepted the fact that they were attracted to men, some of them, felt that to be accepted as Gay, they must adhere to that stereotype. These were usually men from very religious or redneck backgrounds. This is why you have that fucked up subculture.
Being true to who you are is hard for a lot of people in all minorities. For some, it's easier to play a role, then to be true to yourself, because you want to fit in.
Nowadays they say "You do you, I'll do me" ( awesome advancement ) A couple decades ago it was "If you're Gay, be like me." A lot of people went down that road.
The small percentage or so that are naturally the faggy femmy Gays are actually transgender. Almost no actual Gay men act like feminine queens. You usually don't know we're Gay unless we tell you.
It's hard knowing you're outside the norm but are determined to be a parent, but a lot of us did it, to be our true selves and live our lives openly, and honestly. Some brave Transgenders do it as well. Pure awesomeness.
All respect to Transgender / pre Transgender
They are not the majority of the Gay community but get pegged as the typical faggy fem homosexual in mainstream society.
