Indeed. How is a person supposed to defend themselves against somebody with a gun - without a firearm they really have no chance to do anything. So essentially, their right to protect themselves is taken away.

lol man, but in europe we dont have hundreds years old laws saying everyone must cary gun to protect himself against indians! europe is, or at least was not, a warzone ... but once it changed, i am sure everyone will have gun and granade in no time ... whole generations cannot cary a gun just because maybe in future may some religious dicks get mad!

Europe has been a war zone in one way or another for the vast majority of its history. And thats one of the reasons that the gun controls are much tighter than in other countries.

Sadly Mexico has a HUGE no gun policy. so the only people that have them are the bad guys and the citizens are being slaughtered.

Switzerland IS in Europe and they have the highest rate of gun ownership in the world. Most males in switzerland own fully automatic weapons.

yes i know its because almost all are conscripted into the swiss army at adulthood but when was the last time anyone fucked with the Swiss people? they are legally neutral and stay outta everyones business

In Europe we have police and army. And people can of course defend themselves, just not carry guns around.

swiss home defense is their army, so everyone is something like active in the army for whole life, so still armed ... and, no problems there, happy people ... but i think that its because every terrorist have money there and dont want to fuck with their banks

No, that is not the reason; the reason is that European countries are more uniform and bonded societies, not just bunch of random people stacked together. There is not such assumption that people would or should have to shoot each other within the society. We shoot people from other societies.

Check out civilized countries like UK, or Japan that have strict laws against guns and their firearm related death compared to primitive societies at the top and you will easily draw a conclusion about quality of life

Yes, sometimes gun would be good, or at least better. But shit things still happens, no amount of guns isn't going to change that. Have you heard about chance?

This is not war, but this is still fine example: during WWII, 75 % of all british casualties were inflicted by shells, bombs and mortar rounds. Of course you can take cover, not to place yourself to most obvious places, etc., but this demonstrates that not all things are in your hands, no matter how Rambo you are.

So, the bottom line is: yes, having a gun helps in some situations, but it also brings illusion about safety/survival, that it ain't going to bring. You are seeking that illusion and defending hauling guns around, based on that illusion. In Europe, people are brave enough to take their chances mentally and literally.

And I have nothing against guns in general; I have two lying on the floor as I am doing some maintenance to those (oiling stocks), but I ain't hauling those around in public places to have some illusion about safety.
