    Star Trek Continues

    This is kind of cool, and kind of bad at the same time.

    They got the concept down very well. Sets are nearly identical to the original series.

    But the characters are "off", especially Dr McCoy and Lt Uhura... and fuckit, Spock and Capt Kirk as well. And Scotty.

    Got to give them credit for trying though

                          Scotty is played by one of James Doohan's (the original Scotty) sons. That's kinda cool, but he still might be a shitty actor . . .

                                      I grew up on Star Trek LOVE Star Trek. Why go back? We've already LIVED watching the old Star Trek. We've been there.

                                              I've enjoyed the new episodes and the vignettes and I see they have a third new episode out now. Cool. The first two episodes were really nice, and seeing the old set pieces in new use is really fun too. There is great attention to detail and watching them in no way harms the memory of original episodes. It was cool seeing some of the original episode actors being used, and of course former Mythbuster Grant playing Sulu is fun as well. A definite win.

                                                  I dont see the reason for having re made the old ones but they did a good job mirroring them completely.

                                                  I think they should just move on and try and get the story going again and advancing the tech as they go.

                                                  The only thing I did not like about the JJ A. ones was that they had better tech and speed and all but starting with Kirk as a cadet. kind of makes no sense. But I did in the end love the movie and hope they keep the franchise going.

                                                      All they did was recreate the old sets and costumes mostly. The stories are all new and play off of old story lines in some cases which is actually pretty fun to see. This can exist all alone and not as part of the real series too for that reason.
