I need to buy an SUV. Any suggestions?

I'm looking for a certified pre-owned SUV to purchase. ANy suggestions on good certified SUVs? I've had Jeep Wrangler, Grand Cherokee and Lincoln SUV. All of which I wouldn't get again. I'd love to get a Land Rover but it's a bit out of my range. Any suggestions?

While mine is not an SUV (it's a wagon), I do love my Subaru and they do make a nice SUV. Land Rovers always seem to be broken and cost so much to fix, go with something dependable. The VW Touareg is pretty nice too.

I've run the hell out of a few Suburbans over the years, great trucks except for the gas mileage.

Subaru's are about as long lasting and dependable a vehicle as you can get.

Depends on the budget. My wife got a Jeep Cherokee 2 weeks ago, she knew she wanted an SUV style car so we looked at every option available in the $25-40k range, eventually she loved the Cherokee. We got the North edition with some packages, came out to around $37k CAD after freight and taxes. Out of the options in that price range, with the features hers has, it is by far the best car to buy IMO.

If your budget is $40-80k, you have a lot of options. Range Rover Evoque is a nice car, I test drove one and a friend owns one, I think they come in at around $60k and offer a lot. Audi SQ5 is very nice looking car with tons of cool stuff, it's also an Audi so it will drive amazingly well. It's a bit more pricey by the time you add in the really cool packages, I think the one I built when I was thinking of getting it ran around $72k all in.

                      Too late -- you should have bought it when gas was $4.00/gal. That's when I bought a D250 V-10 (8.0 L).
The value has actually gone up.
                      8-9 MPG (3.61 KM/L (27.7 L/100KM)) but I hardly drive it

Who "needs" to buy an SUV? Go with a Ford F-150, or a Pinto.

I had a Murano and I loved that car soooo much, until it came time to do repairs. Because of how they are built, it's super expensive labor. ie: to replace the alternator you have to remove the transmission. The door knob fell off the back passenger door, hours to fix because it was all electrical. Seriously loved that car, but would never recommend to buy one. The tires are also an off size, 18" ... so if you need snow tires, you're better off buying rims in 17" or 19" and getting new tires then, otherwise it's about $300 per tire.

I have an FJ Cruiser but wouldn't recommend it unless you're in the back country or off road most of the time.

Check out the Mazda CX5 and GMC's Terrain both I think are under 30k and rated pretty high for midsized SUV's.

Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants

Nissan Pathfinder is the best choice. Very good gas mileage and has a great power.
You can also consider Ford Explorer, Dodge Durango and Chevrolet Traverse. They are all very close to PF.

Um 4Runner? Depends what kind of SUV you need. If you need something that can go off road... 4Runner. Simply the best...

Just purchased a 2015 Buick Enclave over a 2015 Dodge Durango. I wanted the Durango, but I get a GM employee discount and it made the Buick a BETTER better option.

The Buick however, is just a Minivan in a SUV body. I traded in a Buick Minivan and sitting next two the Enclave it is obvious.

                                              Spend you some brain.

Bought the wife a 2014 Sorento EX with AWD.

                                                    She loves it.

Plus it looks good in the driveway next to my loaded Optima EX.

I had a Nissan Murano too back in 2005 and loved it too, but never had any problems with it. I sold it about 3 years later.

That car was so smooth and so amazing in the snow - wow. It was one of my favourite cars to drive. I didn't know I would like SUV's so much but when we decided we needed one, we looked at maybe 5 other SUV's before going for the Murano. Loved it.

My only complaint about it was that it used a lot of gas. It was only a V6 but used almost as much as my V8 Firebird that I had at the time too. Probably because SUV's are bigger and have to work harder to push all that extra air out of the way on the highway, who knows.

Anyway, yes - if you're looking for a second hand suv, my vote is for a Murano.

I personally like the Jeep Liberty as an SUV. I have an older production code KJ model from 2005, still with low mileage, but it's perfect for what I use it for- as a daily driver and for loading all my equipment in the back cargo area with rear seats folded flat down for location shoots or for grocery getting, picking up people at the airport with luggage or recreational activities. After a lifetime of driving muscle cars I also like the fact that it is rear wheel drive. Front wheel vehicle always feel like golf carts to me.

The latest version of this vehicle- production code KK, was model years 2008-2012. It was a pretty popular model so there are always lots of options at good prices in the used vehicle market too. The new model Jeep Cherokees that supplanted this vehicle would be more expensive of course. I don't really like their designs anyway.
