Conteny Buyers - How do we know what we buy is legal?
This is for some of us who buy non-exclusive or exclusive content from content providers.
Is 2257 paperwork the gold standard in legality or can it be falsified? How are we assured that certain content is legal to buy and use? Are there signs to look out for when looking to buy content from sellers? Thanks for any help. |

2257 info includes names and adresses, TYPICALLY. Thats the point... someone of RECORD has the records, and the records show who that is.
Contact them, just as if u were hiring an employee and checking background recs. |

Alot of our larger clients ask us for a redacted copy of our contract we have with the studio. This is the safest way I think.

When I license out a shoot the licensee gets copies of everything I obtained to satisfy 2257. Front and back scan of the ID with models name blurred... scan of the model release again with the models real name blurred. When buying content from another producer it is easiest to refer back to the original shooter. Look at 2257 carefully and you will see that as a non producer, you are not nearly as liable as the actual producer is.
The reason I blur the models real names is because there is always the possibility that an over-obsessed fan (read cyber-stalker) is trying to get her real name for harassment purposes and thinks by going as far as licensing a shoot from me will give him access to that information. I have been around long enough to see the damage done by leaks like that. Hell, I even remember when one of my competitors (Filipina porn site) fucked up and actually released an uncensored scan of the front and back of the models ID as part of the photo shoot! Ooops. Then the first site I started out with I was shooting for went and proved to me on several occasions they could not be trusted by breaking the confidentiality agreement and printing my name all over the web after I told them I was not interested in shooting for them anymore... lessons like these have taught me well. |

We Usually Google The Companies Name And Search 30 Pages Deep To See What Kind Of Feedback There Is. Then We Decide For Ourselves.
We Highly Recommend That When Buying Just Buy A Little Bit At A Time Until You Feel Comfortable Dealing With Them. We Like To Chat A Little Via ICQ or Skype Prior To Ordering, Sometimes This Will Give You Bonus Content Or Better Deals. We Also Come Here To GFY And Do A Search Of The Content Providers Website To See If They Have Posted Here Or What Others Have To Say About Them.

A warrant and indemnification clause (with an obligation to defend in any litigation) in the license agreement/assignment would also help.

![]() I am also a videographer/photographer/content producer. When I produce content, I make sure that I have all of my models complete the 2257 paperwork and I keep copies. I produce content for market.adultcentro.com and I am required to upload all 2257 info, including ID photo, release and any contracts. Personally, I have also started copyrighting my content through the U.S. Copyright office.

2257 paperwork in not enough... I have seen photoshop contracts on which the guy just poorly replaced the name of the original owner by his company...
Usually the price is a good indicator. It's easy to seel something at a very cheap price when it cost nothing to you... |

Hello, I buy some old video + photo sets they are 5 + year old.
I have few questions I am not in USA but I want to have rights of my content. I want to know before start paid site. I have Document (2257 reglamentation for each model) and also Photos of IDS and ISSN of all models but is this everything that I need. Is this enough to be legal for selling in members area ? I see that each model have contract with xxx company but not with me is this legal to use it without contracts ? Thank You |
