If you are minding your own business in public stepping outta your car in a vacant parking lot, a stranger hopped up on drugs comes outta nowhere, lunges at you and roundhouse starts swinging a knife at you, would you hit that guy to keep from getting stabbed or what would you hope you would do instead?I'd consider having to hit someone a failure in my own assessment of the situation, or handling thereof. I've CHOSEN to hit plenty of people -- during training, in the cage, etc -- but I haven't HAD to hit anyone, and hope I never do. I don't want someone else's injuries on my conscience.Comment

I would get into my car and drive away, or over that guy if it comes to that. Both options are much safer for me.If you are minding your own business in public stepping outta your car in a vacant parking lot, a stranger hopped up on drugs comes outta nowhere, lunges at you and roundhouse starts swinging a knife at you, would you hit that guy to keep from getting stabbed or what would you hope you would do instead?Comment

a few years back, walking back from the pub, I came across a couple arguing with the bloke getting pretty aggressive - pushing her and all that so I went over and asked if she was okay and the bloke started trying to throw punches at me (he must have been as drunk as I was as his punches were wild and inaccurate). the next thing I knew a bunch of other guys (maybe about six of them attacked us both) - mass brawl ensued.
I never did know who those other guys were and why they attacked us both!
I've had a few other fights but nothing serous, they all ended pretty quickly with no one too badly harmed.Free traffic and backlinks from one of the fastest growing adult pinsites on the net - SAUCY PICTURES!

OK, which would you do then? Because you don't have time to choose in this situation. A crazed street person is hopped up on something and swinging a knife at you, you may possibly have the opportunity to get back in your car and kill/run over him or if you are capable, can step into that roundhouse swing and knock him out quickly and easily with a proper hook.Comment

Well, as someone who's been stabbed in a situation like that all I can say is, for me, the "flight" mechanic did not kick in and my brain decided he needed to be stopped by force. I wasn't into MMA at that time, had only started Kickboxing a few months before this incident as my friends done it and I decided to do it for fitness rather than being able to beat someone up. The calmest people I know are people that can fight, but at that moment for me I was anything but calm and I reacted. I do not regret hitting him, I just think now that I was lucky not to have been seriously hurt. Dom is right in what he says, if you can walk away from a fight do it.OK, which would you do then? Oh I agree. Generally speaking, one can blame one's self for being any part of a violent situation.Well, as someone who's been stabbed in a situation like that all I can say is, for me, the "flight" mechanic did not kick in and my brain decided he needed to be stopped by force. But your experience highlights the original point really well, at that very second, you didn't make a decision, you spontaneously HAD to hit that guy, no options. Only in retrospect do you feel that you had a choice.
At the same time, to expand on the exiting the car and being instantly assaulted scenario, the victim could be trapped by the door due to the perp who is also starting the roundhouse, would you feel OK now if you hit that guy in that situation?Comment

That is an interesting question. If I was the victim in that scenario it would come down to 2 decisions based on there only being 1 badie trying to harm me. 1) Can I actually stop this lunatic, and 2) Can I do that without me being badly hurt. If my brain says "Yes!" to both those then I'd most certainly use force to protect myself. If, on the other hand, either one of those options is a "No!" then I'd try to get away as best I could. Being able to live normally after that situation is much better than having a silly story to tell imo.Comment

Knife hopping is always a risk, so I choose the car. Also, the drive over part is unknown as I don't know how will the knife guy behave. There is no said that he will go in front of the car anyways, not to speak of me being forced to drive over him.OK, which would you do then? Because you don't have time to choose in this situation. That said, I have couple times dodged a knife. If just possible, I rather avoid that in the future (not the dodging part per se). Not least as I probably get slower as older.Comment

I assumed he meant he would not initiate any fights, not that he would not hit in defense.If you are minding your own business in public stepping outta your car in a vacant parking lot, a stranger hopped up on drugs comes outta nowhere, lunges at you and roundhouse starts swinging a knife at you, would you hit that guy to keep from getting stabbed or what would you hope you would do instead?Comment

Having to hit someone is a defensive action. I'm not talking about hitting someone because they talked trash about your favorite team, I mean htitting someone because you instantly feel you are in a life-threatening situation at that moment and are defending your life.Comment
-
I think it is obvious that you "must" hit someone in defence when that someone attacks you in the way you described. You have no other choice, maybe running...Comment

The other guys probably thought you and the other guy were fighting over the girl.a few years back, walking back from the pub, I came across a couple arguing with the bloke getting pretty aggressive - pushing her and all that so I went over and asked if she was okay and the bloke started trying to throw punches at me (he must have been as drunk as I was as his punches were wild and inaccurate). the next thing I knew a bunch of other guys (maybe about six of them attacked us both) - mass brawl ensued.

They thought that was so terrible of guys to do that they needed to beat both of you up.

I guess my point on this video like most said above is thinking before acting;
skip to around 14.40 min's gotta love the musket rule of taking time to make a choice on what action you take

Of course! Just like I believe in freedom of speech, and that others don't have the right to not be offended, I don't believe in having to hide from bigots who are offended by something that I am.
