In the last 10 years, I've come close, but I have not quite had to resort to actual violence. Weirdly it has happened mostly in Europe. Twice in the UK (Once because they were drunk, and once because they were drunk and I am Jewish), and once in Amsterdam, (because I am a Jew). All three times, I just took off my glasses and ring, and stood there. Told them to come at me first, so that everything after was self defense, and waited quietly. They always ended up going away after a lot of bluster and their friends "pull them off".
I did have to draw my weapon twice. Once when someone tried to jump me with a knife in a bad area of Miami, and once as someone was trying to break into my car at my condo. Both times, the other person ran away, and that was that. Perfect result.

At a bar, guy was told to leave. He didn't. Bartender asked me to ask the guy to leave.
When I did, he punched me in the face and ran to the door.
Problem for him was the door opened in and i was right behind him and didn't stop, I body slammed him into the door with my shoulder into his rib cage.
He called the cops saying I started the fight, cops didn't buy it. Whole thing was caught on their camera system.
Couple months ago...

So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants

I can't remember having to do this since I was a kid, maybe I got lucky, maybe my size reduces the risk, no way of knowing though really. Now that I've wrote this I'm sure there'll be a big fight over Christmas

The one in Amsterdam seemed to be of the mohammedan persuasion, yes.
The one in the UK, I couldn't tell. Even when I was growing up in the UK, though, I would get picked on by white christian kids for being a jew..... Until I shot up at 16 years old to 6'4", and then it dropped off a little.
As to how they knew.... They asked me, and I told them.

No, but I once detained one guy, but there were no punching involved and he also managed to get away while waiting for the police. I simply held him firmly from the wrist and he managed to wriggle himself loose after 15 minutes or so. There could have been punching, but he didn't initiate any.

November 1st 2008. I was only like 60kg or so, not big at all back then.
Very angry dude was screaming and flailing wildly at random people like a lunatic outside a club.
Only noticed the pocket knife a few seconds before I got stabbed in the lower left hand.
Berserk-mode engaged. Shattered my top ring-finger knuckle on my right hand during the "fight".
Was over in seconds, and I didn't feel like I was in the UFC or anything at all, just numb and shaky from the adrenaline.
Cops came, threw him in back of their car and I got 8 stitches in my left hand and my right hand strapped up.
My missing knuckle is a daily reminder of how lucky/dumb I was that night, tho. Not seen him since.
Have other stories, but that's the one I remember everytime I look at my hand.Comment

Actually, with the anti-jewish hatred starting to rise up in Europe again, it makes we want to wear a Star of David on my chest. I have gone and bought several Star of David T-shirts in anticipation of my next trip over. I'm not going to hide it. (I get all pissed off and stubborn about things like that. Drives my wife crazy)

Before I got derailed into a pissing match, I hold the same thought. Some of the BAMF's I know are quiet and unassuming. You wouldn't even know Hell would be unleashed on you.
Last fight I got into was six years ago, and surprise, surprise, it was at a bar. I can't even call it a fight, all I did was make sure a guy stayed down whose legs I kicked out from under him as he was rushing to hit my training partner (owned the bar) from behind. The guy he was fighting threw a punch, he ducked under it, took his back and choked him senseless. Blood everywhere, as the guy fell forward and smashed his head in front of his bar.
We missed the first half of the UFC we went there to watch due to giving statements to the Police. Fighting for your life, one thing. Fighting cause you're an idiot who can't control your drink which let's out the inner asshole, get help. It's stupid. Once you realize you can cut down on your fights by simply not being there at the bar, club, etc. it makes life so much better.

I'd consider having to hit someone a failure in my own assessment of the situation, or handling thereof. I've CHOSEN to hit plenty of people -- during training, in the cage, etc -- but I haven't HAD to hit anyone, and hope I never do. I don't want someone else's injuries on my conscience.Comment
