To be honest, it looks pre-1997.

Some tips to clean it up:

1.) Get rid of that distracting background.

2.) I'd recommend using 1-pixel table borders, it's the trend now.

3.) Put the annoying buttons at the bottom.

4.) You'll need a lot more links to have returning visitors.

5.) Comic Sans font is old, use something more useable like Tahoma, Arial, Sans-Serif.

I agree with 99% of the rest of the posts. It's too much. It looks like you just learned how to use photoshop and dreamweaver and threw all the things you learned how to do on this page. I would tone it down and make it more professional looking if you want webmasters to take it seriously. It looks like it should be an angelfire homepage.

lose the mouseover concept. People will naturally click on the item and make sure the item is highlighted.

The color scheme is lame.

Mouseover vs. clickable link. Hmm. What do you all think? It's much easier to have everything in the same HTML file, and conserves disk space. Personally I think this is really a personal preference.
