They do it because they want to cash in on both sweeps periods. This year the first ratings reporting period (this is when they collect numbers that they use to set their advertising prices for the network) was Oct 30-Nov 26. So they wanted fresh Walking Dead episodes in there to kick up the overall network ratings.
The next one runs from Jan 29 to Feb 25 so they will be running fresh episodes then as well so they can get those ratings numbers as well.Comment

Still watching season #4 (almost completed). A very atmospheric, dynamic and interesting movie in Stephen King's style. The main trick is not to think when you watching it, because if you'll start analyzing the situation, you see how illogical, stupid, impossible and surreal the story is.
Actually not just the story but everything there: blood bristling out of dead bodies (why it's not turned into clot, do their harts still work?) How can you kill them with a 3-santemeter "knife" stuck to the frontal bone, if only spine area is active? Why do they eat? Are they able to digest food in the the dead intestines? Do they piss and poo then? How long they can stay active w/o food? I would use these as perpetual mobiles (have no idea where they get all that energy but seems its endless). What happened to them during winter (below zero degrees)? How brainless and slow dead can terrorize smart people equipped with all possible technologies, weapons, fortifications etc? How somebody can be "re-infected" when bitten if he is infected already? That's just a pure nonsense.
Anyways, I really love this show when watching it as a psychological thriller about human communes in extreme situations. Actually all the "extreme" there is very nominal. There is no cold winters in Georgia, lots of food, fuel etc. Even baby food and diapers are available (WTF in a "surviving horror"?) The people shown there are sooo stupid, weak and infantile. Those will never survive the real аpocalypse. 80% the world's population lives in much worse conditions.

5th is best, FAR less sitting around whining, way more not taking shit, getting things done and no quarter. Still agree with most of your previous post though. And they still do stupid cringeworthy things like let a prisoner out of your peripheral vision so they can knock you out against a window which after a year or so into the apocalypse just wouldn't fucking happen, gullible people should mostly be wiped out by now. Still at least we have people running people down in cars and being more ruthlessly efficient, cannibals etc. Still sucks there appears to be fuck all sex in the apocalypse. There should be weird pairings as people take what they can get partner wise from your choice of 4 remaining people of the opposite sex with more three ways or something.. fuck.. even bro jobs would be more realistic. At least show the tattered porn mags that are held in the same sacred regard as food and water.Comment

I thought the episode was oddly paced, though, especially for a mid-season finale. I guess they've got me trained to expect more action. The martial artist in me did appreciate Dawn and O'Donnell's fight scene in the hallway. Pretty awesome side-kick by Dawn at the end.
