It gets right to the point, opens right, cuts out all the black fade outs, loses the silly droid, and fixes the light saber. Opening with the Millennium Falcon gives me a boner out of the gate instead of scratching my head wondering what is going on. The last 3 movies were disasters. They are bringing back the old characters for a reason, so focusing on anything that gives me a feeling of nostalgia is better than left wondering if the movie is going to be another disaster or not. That's why I like it better, because I'm left with a hard-on instead of questions.

its' a teaser trailer, NOTHING would ever give you any indication whether it will be awesome or not. example, go look at the phantom menace teaser.. it looks awesome, and that movie was horrible.
the lightsaber bullshit is getting out of hand.. it's a space laser sword, physics aren't supposed to matter...

- no (wanna-be-hype-but-dangerous) laser handle It's an action sci-fi movie, are safety issues ruining it for you? you want seat belts too?
- no ethnic hero disguised as storm trooper Leave it to a gfy turd to complain about having a black person in a movie full of space aliens...
- no noisy robot made to appeal children (and make toys) Toys are why there is any hype from us and anyone else in the first place. We loved that shit then, why is that bad now exactly?

You touch the laser, you are dead. nuff said.

Someone asked what are differences, here is one.
Also, i watched movies with black people as heroes before and this point wasn't a problem for me... (a lot of Sci fi movies with Will Smith for example) but NOW when i see this, i think "oh no, again there is a black hero to comply with our society's propaganda". I know it is stupid, but this is what i see now...

Because this kind of character is childish, useless and stupid ?
Can you recall the plot of the last Star Trek movie?
That's why.
The last Star Trek was so-so... but Abrams has made lots of good movies so far... and lets be honest, the last 3 GL Star Wars movies kinda sucked vs JJ's 1 bad Trek movie, so for now anyway, I'm betting he'll do a good job bring our childhood dreams back to the big screen one more time.

Ok, i know what's the problem with this black guy. It's easy.
It's obviously not a storm trooper (you never see their faces or they are not important as individuals), so it has to be a hero or something.
My problem with him is that he doesn't look charismatic and that's annoying even for a black hero... ;
So, my mind comes then to what i know of our society. With this i understand why i see this black guy: nowadays there is black heroes everywhere because... well... it's politically correct.
Plus: i suspect an attempt of viral effect using a forged controversy
- You show a black guy that doesn't really look charismatic
- People complain about the guy, "bla bla bla storm trooper aren't black... caus clone bla bla"
- You explain: but why don't you want to see this black guy as a hero... are you... RACIST ?? wink wink wink (while his problem is more that he looks kinda stupid in this trailer...)
You have your controversy... and the side of the good, the side that stands against racism is gonna win... allehuia !

John Boyega and Daisy Ridley are the male and female leads.
Boyega is a force-sensitive Stormtrooper under command of Gwendoline Christie's character. He defects from the Empire over the course of the movie, ending up stranded on a desert planet (presumed to be Tatooine) during the first act. Having defied orders, Boyega is hunted as a deserter.

I like the re edit too, but there's an argument that can be made for the original trailer. We're teased by a scene of a desert. We would not yet know that this is a Star Wars movie. The reveal of the Stormtrooper is a gentle lead-in to an ever increasingly exciting climax, the Millennium Falcon flight.
For the light sabre, fans shouldn't be so quit to hate it. Maybe this one was made by a different designer and serves a different purpose? Let's let the story tellers decide this for us.
I thing the trailer is perfect for what it is, almost genius.
The black guy thing, the lightsaber, etc; it has everyone talking. Love it, hate it, everyone is talking about it.
If the trailer was perfect, to everyones satisfaction and great, no debate would be sparked up and discussed as it is now.
I liked passenger 57, anything Samuel L Jackson and Denzel. It doesn't matter to me who leads. And the funny thing, the acting, the movie, the premise can suck ass on the highest levels of "Suck-dom", Its Star Wars and I and all of the fans are going to line up and see it.
To me the newer Star Wars movies, 1, 2, 3, the ones with Aniken as a kid, were the absolute worst "Stand Alone" movies ever made. If I wasn't a Star Wars fan, I would say WTF!!
But to me personally and to all of the Star Wars fans, these were the absolute best movies ever made, because it told a story to a franchise that I and other Star Wars Fans alike love and were always waiting for and hoping for.
Im pretty confident JJ. Abrams is going to make a way better Star Wars than the last 3 that got put out. Only time will tel.
