After a few brief moments of weakness and indecision, I found myself sitting in a theater watching Dumb and Dumber To with my girlfriend.
Once they found the mom in the story, I was really struck by this really strong sense of familiarity with the actress and couldn't figure out why. The voice was super familiar... the face only vaguely familiar.
Suddenly, it hit me and I turned to my GF and said "oh shit, that's Kathleen Turner" and she just looked at me like I was retarded.
So i was doubting myself and the voice kept striking a chord with me and I became convinced that I was recognizing the voice, not the face... then it hit me ... i realized why the voice was familiar and said to her "Oh shit... that's the person that played Chandlers cross dressing father on Friends". Now she's thinking "what a weird way to cover up the first stupid obviously wrong thing you said"
Turns out they were both Kathleen Turner. I had no clue after watching those episodes of Friends so many times, that it was her. Such a deep raspy voice even back then. In what had to be one of the more spectacular coincidences ever, after the movie, we came home, sat down and I turned on the TV and flipped through a few channels and Romancing the Stone was on. We couldn't get over how sexy she was in that movie and how she looks like a homeless person today.
The years have not been kind to her.
