How often does the surfer's IP address change?
I'm wondering if most surfers keep the same IP for a jerkoff session, or if it changes half-way though due to AOL or whatever switching dynamic IP's due to proxy's or whatever.....?????
OR, does the surfer *usually* keep the same IP until he logs off and re-logs back in... |

The user gets his IP when he connects, it doesn't change while he's surfing

cable systems around here for your "residential" lines are dynamic, generally dynamic externals. the leases are generally given for 24 hour periods, although generally unless the machine is rebooted, that ip will stay effective for about 2-3 weeks. sometimes more, sometimes less. but they're still dynamic.

anyway, to be more specific to thefly, generally from most networks i've worked with, any sort of dynamically allocated ips are given a 24 hour lease. generally it's not less, unless it's a very specific environment. not likely to change in a "jerkoff session". as far as dial up, they change more often, but generally (from what i've used) only change when the person logs on and off. i've seen people go for hours while logged in with no changes. my ex used aol a lot while not at home/school, and it alwyas seemed to keep the address until a new session was initiated (i.e. dial back up, it would change). windows networking generally doesn't like changing ips in midstream, at least anything prior to win2000.
hope that helps.

the surfer never changes during a session - and if they're hooked up to the internet through a larger carrier - they may change the IP from session to session.
However, the larger internet providers still have x amount of c-classes (256 ip numbers) Usually the surfer will come from the same c-class.
