Chromebook or MacBook: what is worth buying?

Go for a MacBook if you want to run anything other than Google Apps.

Hmmm the problem is that Google Apps suit me well but I use Skype and some Adobe products and as I know there are no worthy substitutions among Chrome OS services and apps.

If all you're doing with it is what you posted, I wouldn't bother wasting the money on a Macbook. We have both here at the house and the Chromebook is perfect for what you want to do.

Sure I've got a powerful desktop PC at home. The new device is mainly for work out of office and home and for business trips.

For say $250 you can swap in an SSD and increase the ram to 16GB

The Retina is definitely the way to go. The 13" model is only slightly heavier than the air.

Then you're gonna be fine. Check the Chrome App Store beforehand and make sure there are apps for all you want to do. If you're not going to do any more than what you're already doing, you'll be fine and have a bunch of money left over for something else.

Anyone that tells you to buy a Macbook to do some basic work needs to get their head out of their ass and lay the fuck off of the Koolaid.

Even I would take macbook over chromebook. That says a lot, lol.
Chrome book is basically a tablet while macbook is a computer. How can you compare that

One is full computer and one is a toy.
That being said - for some tasks chromebook is enough.
