I look at Yelp reviews for regular drs and all I see is 50/50 bad reviews. Acupuncturist on Yelp mostly have 100% positive feedback and all of the people reporting complete healing of there ailments. Obviously other than conditions that need immediate surgery would you think Acupuncture is more effective than modern medicine for common ailments, Yelp reviews show a much better experience than a regular practitioner.

I don't know about yelp reviews or what people think and how right or wrong they are (some people believe that doggy style sex makes boy children...), I like the scientific method, you have a theory - you test it and then make your decision based on the result. So far there have been number of clinical trials done to test the validity of acupuncture and the only thing that comes out of it is that it only helps because of the placebo effect. So if you strongly believe it's going to help you then go ahead and it probably will, otherwise it's a waste of time and money.Comment

Something "has been around for thousands of years" doesn't make it true or valid. People thought that the earth is flat for thousands of years.
Faith is very strong factor here, people believed that it works for thousands of years and in a way it does for those that believe.Comment

You would be hard pressed to find anyone that hates medicine or doctors more than me; that being said, I was involved in an industry that dealt with modern medicine and a sprinkling of ancient Chinese secrets. Refusal to believe in its effectiveness but thinking modern medicine is the answer is just being naive.
