Totally agree, this is not a flying car. The wheels are supposed to flip downward and shoot out glowing blue plasma. I bet this thing doesnt even have a Mr. Fusion...

its a step forward though

also, all flying cars should be driver driven in cities. Just seems like a recipe for disaster

You have to respect the long term vision of Aeromobil and other Skycar manufacturers like Moller for even attempting this. Not only because of the massive expense and technological challenges but, because the end game of everyday people operating them (a key part of their visions) is completely in other peoples hands.

Baby steps on the way to the Jetsons era.

Rather cool...I liked it. The car design was impressive until it unfolded as a plane. Then it took on a somewhat fugly look.

Still too soon to order a flyin' Ferrari.

Nice looking as a car but not very functional as an airplane. The covers over the front wheels is too tight and close to the ground.

i don't think it's intended to fully replace an airplane - but it obviously flies

and I'm surprised to see it's from Slovakia (no offense ;) )

It looks kind of cool but kind of disappointing because to me it's still a plane. What I would love to see one day is a real "car" that can fly, utilizing some high tech materials like Quantum Locking seen here:

Someone else who knows who Moller is - man I wanted that Volantor to exist! I used to call and pester them as a kid.

Plane with wheels is too difficult and too unwieldy - it needs to be a car that can hover that can be driven by a relatively untrained pilot with the help of a computer.

That prop is way too exposed, imagine it gets on knock from anything on the road and big expense to replace.

I don't classify those as flying car, it's a car that can convert to plane in a clumsy way... in my book one of the most important things for a flying car is vertical take off and landing (VTOL).
This is a lot more promising:

http://youtu.be/WUgsyYotLkQ

and of course the proper flying only car (wish this will come one day):

Great video
But...
That would not be flying that would be floating within a defined road surface and requires super cooling to extremely cold temperatures.

They will also need to solve the fuel efficiency of any flying car.
Example : Moller states its best MPG is rated at an assumed 20MPG for its wingless flying car...

I think I saw somewhere that the Moller skycar can run on 2 or 3 of its 4 engines...
Guessing if 1 fails you could safely land..

I'm more worried about DUI in the sky... Don't want someone crashing into my 20th story window at 200mph...
