Just stupid, wonder what happens if she does have it, spreads it and someone dies?
If that grounds for manslaughter or some other charge?

People like her, and the doctor in New York that ran around the city all day, show us that "voluntary quarantines" can not and should not be trusted. The idea behind that is laughable anyway. Expecting people to stay in their house, just because? Right.

Good for her.

Politicians like Chris Christie are throwing science out the window by forcing stupid quarantines.

This nurse has no symptoms and has tested negative for the disease. If she had tested positive, the only way the disease can be transmitted is through blood and feces. It is not airborne.

By placing her and others in Quarantine, they make the problem worse. They make doctors nervous about going to Africa to help with the problem in the first place, and they make people afraid to report where they have been and who they have had contact with.

Christie's position is "Better to be safe than sorry". Being "safe" means listening to people smarter than him when it comes to policy. Going against Doctors and Scientists isn't safe - its stupid.

Have you guys ever left the house feeling great. No problems at all. Stomach is good, nose is good. Everything is fine.

You are out and about, maybe at the mall. Suddenly your stomach starts hurting. Maybe your head starts pounding. You need to throw up. You need to sneeze.

Yeah. Thought so.

the only person who died of ebola in the us, didnt die from the disease but from being pitched from the TX hospital not having health insurance.
Now to get an idea of how hard it is to get, the dying man was sent home. None of his family who lived with him have gotten it.
Be more scared of someone with the flu, 30k Americans die from it a year.

You forget to mention that the people who have recovered from it were also pumped full of experimental drugs. Time will tell what those drugs did and will do to the body.

I'm fine with Sudafed. Experimental Ebola drugs, not so much. Asking one person to stay-at-home for a few weeks is not unreasonable.

Sorry, holding people against their will, for the greater good is a slippery slope. It hasnt been the drugs that saved them, its being able to control the symptoms which they cant do in third world shit holes, which is why they die there and everyone except the guy who was pitched is alive here.
Again one guy died here and over 30,000 die from the flu in this country every year. Wanna lock people up for sneezing?

That figure is the result of them lumping Pneumonia and Influenza together.

"National Vital Statistics System in the U.S, annual flu deaths in 2010 amounted to just 500 per year"

"Even that 500 figure for the U.S. could be too high, according to analyses"

"In 2001, a year in which death certificates listed 257 Americans as having died of flu, only 18 were positively identified as true flus."

http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/lawrenc...b_4661442.html

Also a healthy immune system means a fever not your own blood literally trying to escape your body and a virus replicating so fast that is pulverizes your cells and internal organs.

one day perhaps, you will learn about science.

Quote:
Dr. [Bruce] Beutler, an American medical doctor and researcher, won the Nobel Prize for Medicine and Physiology in 2011 for his work researching the cellular subsystem of the body’s overall immune system — the part of it that defends the body from infection by other organisms, like Ebola.

He is currently the Director of the Center for the Genetics of Host Defense at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas — the first U.S. city to treat an Ebola patient and also the first to watch one die from the virus.

In an exclusive interview with NJ Advance Media, Beutler reviewed Christie’s new policy of mandatory quarantine for all health care workers exposed to Ebola, and declared: “I favor it.”

Dr. Beutler warned that quarantining and monitoring is a sound policy, not because it is clear that the potentially exposed are clearly infectious, but because their data is inconclusive and there are too few observed cases to know exactly how this disease transmits from host to host.

I really hate this tactic of "reporting" because nobody is "admitting" that how you catch Ebola is any easier or harder than they've ever said. It's been widely reported that you have to mingle body fluids with an infected person to have a chance of catching it.

If someone didn't know that snot on a doorknob is a bodily fluid then................. have luck.

Dr. Beutler warned that

“It may not be absolutely true that those without symptoms can’t transmit the disease, because we don’t have the numbers to back that up,” Beutler said. “It could be people develop significant viremia [where viruses enter the bloodstream and gain access to the rest of the body], and become able to transmit the disease before they have a fever, even.

People may have said that without symptoms you can’t transmit Ebola. I’m not sure about that being 100 percent true. There’s a lot of variation with viruses.”

Ebola has a 21 day incubation period. Should could test negative but STILL transmit the disease. She is a fucking nurse. She knows this shit. Lock her ass up and throw away the key. It's completely irresponsible. Typhoid Mary didn't want her ass quarantined either. They finally had to lock her up for decades. This crazy nurse only has to stay in quarantine for 21 days.

In fact, in a study published online in late September by the New England Journal of Medicine and backed by the World Health Organization, 3,343 confirmed and 667 probable cases of Ebola were analyzed, and nearly 13 percent of the time, those infected with Ebola exhibited no fever at all.

If you arent showing syptoms you cant give it to anyone and if you do its hard to get it. One more time the guy with ebola was sent home with 103 fever and dying. No one in his apt complex or his home got it.

"After retracting its initial story placing blame on a "flaw" in its electronic health record system, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital has yet to provide an explanation as to why Duncan's case was handled in the manner that it was. Before Duncan's death, Dallas county commissioner John Wiley Price suggested that Duncan's lack of health insurance may have played a part in the hospital's decision to release him after initially complaining of a fever and abdominal pain.

"I said at the outset, Presbyterian is a boutique hospital next to a little Ellis Island," Price said, referring to the immigrant community where the hospital is located. "If you don't have insurance, you're not going to get treated. That's the elephant in the room.""

"I said at the outset, Presbyterian is a boutique hospital next to a little Ellis Island," Price said, referring to the immigrant community where the hospital is located. "If you don't have insurance, you're not going to get treated. That's the elephant in the room.""

that's not proof. Feel free to post any proof that he was sent home with a life threatening medical issue due to lack of insurance.

more on John Wiley Price::::::

Price has aroused local controversy during his time in office. During the 1980s and 1990s Price would lead protests for racial issues in the Dallas area. In the spring of 1990 Price threatened a citywide ?call to arms? if the city manager did not pick someone sensitive to minorities for a new police chief. Price was quoted in the paper as saying ?M-16's and all, we will take to the (expletive) street, we'll shoot at (expletive) police cars.?

Soon after that he got into a fight with an off-duty policeman who was jogging by Price's home. The officer yelled ?Wiley sucks!?. Price then pulled out a gun and allegedly stuck it against the officer's head.[2]

In 1991 during a protest, Price was accused of breaking the ankle of a construction worker. In May 1992, Price was found not guilty of felony assault charges from the incident. The verdict was rendered just days after the Rodney King riots in the Los Angeles area, and several jurors reported to have received threatening phones calls during the trial.[3]

Among many other instances, Price received national media attention when he took offense at the use of the term "black hole" by a fellow commissioner.[4]

Look, I'm in agreement that the hospital mishandled the case, although I don't understand enough about 103 fevers in adults to make an internet diagnosis that trumps trained nurses.

but the logic you are supplying here does not proof they sent him home due to no insurance.

Lol... That't not really what they said, but never mind.

For adults, don't treat fevers below 102 F (38.9 C) with any medications unless your doctor tells you to. If you have a fever of 102 F (38.9 C) or higher, your doctor may suggest taking an over-the-counter medication, such as acetaminophen (Tylenol, others) or ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others).

seems 103 isn't a life threatening fever for adults. If taking aspirin is the prescription for 103, then I can fully understanding discharging someone with 103 fever.
