yup for 3k you get the same as the pc I bought 3 years ago...just with out the unusable monitor, but I did get 2 nvida cards, Bluetooth, dvd/blue ray burner, wifi, card readers all built in and my ssd c drive is only 120GB but I only keep the OS on c drive... WTF is a 1TB c drive for?Comment

Me too. I've been thinking about it for a while because I want something super-fast... but the Mac Pro's 4K monitor is an extra $1000 I think.
The New iMac may not be as fast as the Mac Pro, but its much cheaper, has the highest res monitor I've ever seen, and comes in a super sexy design which I am already used to (I have 2 iMac 27's on my desk).
Yum..Comment

Grape, the font size is adjustable. If you're on a high res monitor and the font size is too small, it's an easy adjustment to get it to look the way you want.Mark you're getting the apple hand job....you realize that correct? or are you so far gone you can't tell shit from beans anymore???

I know which one I'm picking.
The Ferrari. You, the Hellcat, I'm sure.
Quality over quantity for me. Can't even count the amount of HP, Dell, Sony laptop and PC's I've blown through. Shit quality.
Software (Windows) not optimized to work with the hardware....so in a few years you have a laggy POS. I ran a 1200 user Exchange/Active Directory environment for 6 years. So I think I know my shit.
Even custom built can't match the tight hardware/software integration that Apple provides.
To each his own. But I usually find that hte people who are anti-Mac have never used one for more than a week.
I'm happily typing this from my brand new Macbook Pro Retina 15". My 10 year old 15 inch Macbook Pro is still to this day being used flawlessly by my niece and my sister has my 2008 Macbook Pro Unibody. Still working flawlessly. I have a 2005 Sony Viao Laptop running 24/7 in one office that controls security equipment and a weather station that tweets, Facebooks and updates sites non stop.
I did change the hard drive when it was 7 years old and windows crashed. To me if I was doing a clean reinstall why not replace the HD.
2 computers ago my hp tower ran my business worked for 8 years. I did upgrade the memory, HD and OS (from 95 to XP) and had to replace a fan.Comment

Why would you want to go over 4K in this day and age? Your eyes won't see the difference on a 27" anyway and there are more important factors in producing realistic (motion) pictures and graphics than the '5K' sales pitch they are giving you.
Buy 3 screens for that money, a decent graphics card and feel like a boss.Last edited by AndrewX; 10-20-2014, 11:38 AM.

Good point. I am super productive using 2 monitors, and wonder about getting a 3rd. Anyone who works on desktops but is stuck on only 1 monitor would do much better expanding the desktop to 2 monitors instead of replacing an existing computer. Why would you want to go over 4K in this day and age? I wish they would update their cinema display. I was hoping they did it after the iMac was made thinner even though there was a computer inside of it, and now there's a huge resolution bump and still no display upgrade. That sucks!Comment

I have to agree with you on this. The hardware is build to last (unlike the iPhone that people tend to upgrade every other year) the computers really last. My partner has a 15" Macbook Pro (late 2009 series) that I recently worked on when he got a new one. The computer had it's hard drive maxed out and 4 gigs of memory...ran like an old computer BUT never died on him (unlike the 4 laptops I went through)!2007 487HP Ferrari vs 2015 700HP Hellcat

I took the old drive out and replaced it with a 250 ssd, doubled the memory to 8 gigs, and it's now running like a new computer (even with the old cpu). It will go for years! The only bummer is no retina display of course!
The integration of the OS with the hardware can not be bet and the latest free upgrade to Yosemite is really great. Runs fast and is visually amazing - highly recommended!Comment

I have a friend who buys this shit and puts it on new credit cards. Unfucking believable. I can see this if he was some kind of game or computer graphics developer. On the contrary I grasp simple concept of price/quality. If one computer cost 2K and another 3K and they both are equally good I buy the one for 2K.
Even if I have 1.000.000 in my bank account.
And laugh at those closed minded individuals who always drop "you can't afford apple" when somebody is claiming that apple is NOT better

you have good points but those days are over. Now you are buying a very expensive laptop where nothing is up gradable on purpose. next year they will come out with the 6K display that even creatures with super-human eye sight will not be able to see the pixel of, and they will call it "hawk eye display" and they will put in a 2 year old intel and some other horribly over priced components and the crapple fan boys will be moist around the asshole all over again, standing in line to buy shit that the PC had like 2 years ago....
"retina display"

Haha, exactly. Watch, there's more.
What you fail to grasp is that people who HAVE Apple products chuckle when you try to make the case that most Windows-based PCs come close to the build quality of a Mac. There's a vast gap between the two. Sure, LV products are expensive -- but you know what? They're also well made, and last a long time. If you want to go with a Wal-Mart knock-off because it's cheaper, that's your prerogative, but to say "LV is too expensive because X, Y, and Z," it just demonstrates that cost is your deciding factor, not the other things you're complaining about. Those who can afford it, will ... and it's not really any of your business that they "waste" the money, in your eyes, because you A) can't, and B) won't.On the contrary I grasp simple concept of price/quality. Ok so you still do not grasp the concept of price vs quality...Haha, exactly. Watch, there's more.

Cost is not deciding factor, price vs quality is.
To put it super simple for your brain:
1 kg of X potatoes cost $1
1 kg of potatoes Y cost $10
Y potatoes is 1% better.
Would you buy Y potatoes because they are better? Or would you evaluate price vs quality and decide that buying Y would be stupid?
I would go for X not because of the price (as you claim with "price is the deciding factor"), but because of price vs quality or price vs value or whatever you call it.
I can not put it simpler than that for you to understand.
This has nothing to do with apple, just explaining price vs value concept as you surprisingly do not grasp such a thing...
*****************
And how dare I complain about apple (like that thing about making users life more difficult with "closed system philosophy), it must not be true, I must be complaining because I can't afford. After all - apple products are magical and any complaint about them equals not being able to afford...
It is such a dumb thing to ASSUME that no words could describe. Narrow minded people think that way.
And same goes for your LV and Ferrari examples. You assume that people could not complain about certain things (that means you think they are God's creatures and 100% ideal) and if they do they do it because they "can't afford", lol.
ps: I would love to own a ferrari and CAN'T afford it. Does not correlate with your assumption that I should hate on it because I can't afford it, does it?
Also would hate to own LV and I CAN afford it. Also does not correlate with your narrow minded way of thinking, lol.Last edited by mineistaken; 10-22-2014, 04:20 PM.Comment
