Seriously, back OT, Tam, the venom is far, far worse than the bite looks. I would recommend as another member in this thread posted, going to an urgent care facility or ER. :2 cents:

Second that, you don't want your nerve endings go into necrosis along with the flesh there, it does look bad enough for ER!

get the foggers all done :2 cents:

onwebcam 10-10-2014 07:17 PM

Foggers and spraying doesn't work on them unless you hit them directly. You will need to put glue traps all over and catch as many as you can. Also get you a cat if you don't already have one. My house sits about 20ft from the woods and we get swarmed by all sorts when the weather turns colder. It hasn't been bad this year, yet. We bought some of the chenical that you hook to your hose and spray the entire house ouside and around now every few weeks. It seems to have helped.

Jman 10-10-2014 07:35 PM

Nasty bite, glad you are ok. I'd never live where there's these kinds of spiders. Spiders gives me the creeps. Good luck getting rid of them all.

We have a ton of cats outside that have just come up over time and we take care of them - they keep the outside pretty free of any creepy crawly things - and we iveright next to wooded areas too!

The inside cats we have - up to the most recent two- all think we should do the hunting and killing while they eat out of fine crystal or some shit... Persians and Himalayans aren't exactly known for their hunting skills - but the two Manx Cats I have gotten this past year are incredibly smart and they will hunt and kill anything they see... they let me know when ANYTHING is amiss. lol

I've been reading and the best solution that seems to be working for anyone I've seen is those glue traps - nothing else seems to have been very successful in anything I've read.

Just got home and the porch lights were off, so I didn't notice the spiderweb in the doorway until I walked through it. Immediately thought of Tam and her brown recluses.

No joke Tam - go to a doc in the box, or the ER. As someone else mentioned, there is more to be considered than just rotting flesh - such as nerves in that region that are used for adduction of the legs.

Also, the "foggers" that just spray up and drift back down are hardly effective. Get the kind that come in smaller cans and you drop those in small cups of water to initiate the reaction. The fog they produce is much better at filling a space and penetrating the nooks and crannies.

I've never had a single one in my house and now am seeing them more often - so I don't know if I have a nest of them or they are just worse this time of the year or what - I just know they are some mean little bastards!

Magnetron from your microwave oven + tin will do the trick ;)

P.S. The guy from that video claims it easily kills insects and spiders through any wall just easily :helpme

BTW, the explosions that you can hear here are are not sound effects. They are real, because this video was filmed in Lugansk (the Ukraine) right in the war zone. Looks like these guys just don't give a single fuck about all those exploding shells around :helpme

suesheboy 10-11-2014 04:48 AM

Necrosis is the issue with brown recluse and some other venomous spiders. Not something
to fool with.

At them minimum bug bomb the house. Exterminator would reduce the numbers and would be worth at least 1 visit with 1 followup.

Reduce any moisture / water source under and around the house, and then spray there as well.

Yikes!!!

Well, I guess in some areas of the world, that sound is about as second nature as the tv is in our homes! Pretty scary and sad thought actually! :Oh crap

Yeah I seen that - I highly doubt my issue is quite that bad - and it's been posted a few times in this thread - I just have one bite and seen a handful in 12 years - I just wanted to know if anyone here had had any experiences with them and how to contain the situation - simply because anything I've seen about pros trying to deal with them doesn't ever seem successful.

Klen 10-11-2014 02:02 PM

I just killed giant spider on wall with a body size of bee and it possible how it is same type,as it is brown color.
Had to get up on table to kill it,and as result i screwed a bit my shoulder, due sudden move.(i used IT magazine to kill it). And now there is goo left on wall, look like someone cummed on it lol.And what i find annoying on internet, there is people who always say how we shouldn't kill spiders, how they are "bros" which kills other annoying bugs.Which is bullshit as there is billions of other bugs always and there is no way how they could kill them all,so i dont see point in keeping them. And especially i dont see point in keeping them in room where you sleep. Checked my room further and found one more spider sitting right on el. socket, but that one was atleast small one.

sonofsam 10-11-2014 02:20 PM

why are you so hard headed? Just go to the ER already...

I was once one of those people that didn't think they needed to be killed if they were on the ceiling not hurting anyone, but after this - the only GOOD spider is a dead one or one outside where it can't get to me. lol

Same with snakes - I am even more terrified of them. lol

Don't kill spiders they are the best insects just catch them in jar and move them outside.
I am always seeing big huntsman spiders they are smart creatures moving into shadows and are self aware had to catch sure but they will do your garden some good keeping ticks and other insects away. I get lots after days of rain but i never kill them i just move them.

As I said, they can be outside all they want and I don't and won't bother them - I don't keep my gardens in the house and I have animals outside that need them and their protection - but in my house - this won't be happening - not again!!

Yep. I had recent flurry of scorpion activity here at my place.

So I sprayed some pro strength home insecticide. But it doesn't hurt scorpions (even the sprays that claim they are for scorpions).

So I called some professional exterminators. The way they do it is a "bug hunt". They actually come to your house at night with black light (scorpions glow under black light) and kill them by hand!

Anyway, I started googling on how to get rid of scorpions. And the method that was described as the absolute best was: To get a cat!

I seem to remember seeing something about using empty coffee-cans as DIY scorpion traps. You bury the cans up to the rim, and the scorpions will fall in and not be able to climb out. Periodically check the traps and kill or relocate as you see fit.

My problem is that my girl cat will bring me her catches still alive if I am home. She'll whine at the door and when I open it she steps inside and drops whatever she is holding. Summer before last I had three live lizards running around the house at one point, which kept the other two cats thoroughly entertained.

Robbie 10-12-2014 12:19 PM

Actually what I did was get those sticky traps. They are basically pieces of cardboard covered with a glue substance that will actually stop a mouse in it's tracks!

I put 3 or 4 of those around the office and sure enough...the things are covered with bugs and a few scorpions.

My cat died earlier this year (he was 20 years old and eaten up with cancer)...and I just didn't want to get another cat and live with cat hair all over the place for another 20 years.
So the sticky traps seem to do the trick.

Not sure if they would work for most spiders since they seem to live in webs (except the big "hunter" type spiders)

BlueWave 10-12-2014 01:30 PM

A friend was bitten by a Brown Recluse several years ago and the doctor's biggest concern was necrosis setting in.

The one thing that has stuck with me from the research we did at the time - aside from the whole pain and necrosis concern - was that the Brown Recluse doesn't "groom" itself the way most spiders do. As such your normal spider sprays/powders/etc will rarely get them because they won't get the chemical in their mouth. The only thing that's pretty much guaranteed to get them is fumigating the whole house and garage if it's not part of the house. (Disclaimer - I can't swear the above info is factual but it's the way I remember it.)

Hope you heal up without any permanent scars - Good luck!

That doesn't work when you have invasion, you just need to kill them.Especially those giant spiders which could jump on your head and poke your eye lol.Once i had an invasion of mini "dot size"spiders, there was literally thousand of them, how did they got to my room is beyond me,i spent 2 hours by vacuuming them.

-Mupirocin ointment.
-Pack the wound in sugar
-use sheets of "bounce" around the house and under your bed to keep the fuckers at bay

What does the bounce sheet do? Other than make my house smell good, of course. lol

I am not so sure packing sugar in it would have been such a brilliant idea as I am a Diabetic - but thank you.

It's all but closed up now - and my Dr's appt is tomorrow - but all that's left now is the itching like crazy where the skin is healing and tightening back up. It has a ways to go, sure - but the Clay packs and Echinacea have REALLY done some miracle healing on it.

I do appreciate the help here - some of the things have helped a great deal and it's much appreciated.

Go to the doctor immediately, they carry a disease called necrotizing fasciitis, it is a skin rotting condition and if untreated will spread all the way to your heart and kill you. I am very serious about this, don't pass go, and consult your doctor immediately.

I hope you are okay

arock10 10-13-2014 11:50 AM

Dead yet? You've had many bad threads over the years but this is just sheer stupidity

Tam 10-14-2014 09:44 PM

Went to the Dr today - all is well and healing fine and so on - as I thought it would be... all because we got on it very very fast!

They put me on some really nasty anti-inflammatory meds that NO ONE should ever be put on - and I'll not be taking those things, not after seeing the side effects! Fucking Drs - they all suck!
