I hate how the states always toots their freedom horn. As if they invented the concept. I've actually talked to americans who thought canada wasn't a free country... morons.
So you can speak and vote. Wow.. what about REAL freedoms like the freedom to roll up some marijuana in the privacy of your own home and kick back. I know canada doesn't have that either... YET... but if not for our close relation to the states we would. </rant> |
I say we just take fries in general off the market. Hit france where it hurts!

Yep, you are right. And half them (at least in California) were built by Germans (BMW and Mercedes). Don't lecture me. I take a bus/train from SF to Palo Alto everyday, which is a 3h4m commute EVERY DAY. I'm doing my part not to support terrorist supporting oil. |

(a) This section shall be known and may be cited as the Compassionate Use Act of 1996. (b)(1) The people of the State of California hereby find and declare that the purposes of the Compassionate Use Act of 1996 are as follows: (A) To ensure that seriously ill Californians have the right to obtain and use marijuana for medical purposes where that medical use is deemed appropriate and has been recommended by a physician who has determined that the person's health would benefit from the use of marijuana in the treatment of cancer, anorexia, AIDS, chronic pain, spasticity, glaucoma, arthritis, migraine, or any other illness for which marijuana provides relief. (B) To ensure that patients and their primary caregivers who obtain and use marijuana for medical purposes upon the recommendation of a physician are not subject to criminal prosecution or sanction. (C) To encourage the federal and state governments to implement a plan to provide for the safe and affordable distribution of marijuana to all patients in medical need of marijuana. (2) Nothing in this section shall be construed to supersede legislation prohibiting persons from engaging in conduct that endangers others, nor to condone the diversion of marijuana for nonmedical purposes. (c) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, no physician in this state shall be punished, or denied any right or privilege, for having recommended marijuana to a patient for medical purposes. (d) Section 11357, relating to the possession of marijuana, and Section 11358, relating to the cultivation of marijuana, shall not apply to a patient, or to a patient's primary caregiver, who possesses or cultivates marijuana for the personal medical purposes of the patient upon the written or oral recommendation or approval of a physician. (e) For the purposes of this section, ''primary caregiver" means the individual designated by the person exempted under this section who has consistently assumed responsibility for the housing, health, or safety of that person. SECTION 2. If any provision of this measure or the application thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid, that invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of the measure that can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this measure are severable. |

Anyways, I do agree with you some people toot that freedom horn a little too much, even though the american constitution is one of the oldest constitutions in the world...despite the fact that the U.S. is barely 2 1/4 centuries old. |

I know quite a few French people, and they still love the Americans as individual. The problem is that if this continue, they could start hating the americans as a collectivity... One more ennemy created by Georgie baby. |
France has neither winter nor summer nor morals. Apart from
these drawbacks it is a fine country. France has usually been governed by prostitutes." ---Mark Twain "I would rather have a German division in front of me than a French one behind me." --- General George S. Patton "Going to war without France is like going deer hunting without your accordion." --Norman Schwartzkopf "We can stand here like the French, or we can do something about it." ---- Marge Simpson "As far as I'm concerned, war always means failure" ---Jacques Chirac, President of France "As far as France is concerned, you're right." ---Rush Limbaugh, "The only time France wants us to go to war is when the German Army is sitting in Paris sipping coffee." --- Regis Philbin "The French are a smallish, monkey-looking bunch and not dressed any better, on average, than the citizens of Baltimore. True, you can sit outside in Paris and drink little cups of coffee, but why this is more stylish than sitting inside and drinking large glasses of whiskey I don't know." --- P.J O'Rourke (1989) "You know, the French remind me a little bit of an aging actress of the 1940s who was still trying to dine out on her looks but doesn't have the face for it." ---John McCain, U.S. Senator from Arizona "I don't know why people are surprised that France won't help us get Saddam out of Iraq. [B] Although I agree that it is quite childish to make such a fuss about a food name such as "frecnh fries" to "freedom fries", it is nothing compared to what is being said in france and other anti-American countries in europe. Imagine members of the US Government going to the Late Show and laughing at foul language comments made about france?? Well, that is exactly what is happening now in france. So, although I would not have gone as far as changing the name of food things, I can't really condemn it. I think it would be best if we stopped buying french products, after all; that is the language the french understand... Quote:
so yes, i'd say he's traveled outside the U.S. |
I don't know what is worse:
Morons renaming french fries (le frites) or The French. Just kidding. I love the French, especially the ones that look like Juliette Binoche. |
