Yeah I have ridden there many times in the Santa MOnica section. I never realized it extended that far to Hermosa though! I plan to be there this month, If anyone else is interested in custom/vintage bike culture, check out this video: I plan to attend the 2015 show next year with a more custom show worthy bike. |
I pick up my beast tomorrow and thinking of the frame i like the Ruff Cycles Tango but where i ride up and down pavement i think it would be too low i see they do some outer frames or thinking about getting one made from scratch.

looks pretty slick :thumbsup

Only downside to this - you may look like a wannabe gang banger on a bike like that. Or if you are white - like wannabe wiggah, lol

My boy Dino owns Pisano's Pizza down there. I lived on the Esplanade for 10 years. I would fly gliders outside my front door and ride the strand daily and ride my bike to Jui-Jitsu daily. Some really good times. I live in Woodlandhills now and traded my bike in for a video camera. lol I still have my "We The People" trick bike and I have my "Lightspeed" 21 speed bike. I Should actually ride them someday. Just no good places out here to ride. Just Dave |

But remember, you will most likely need to swap out the rear coaster brake hub from the rear wheel. The stock hub is pretty wide and will not fit on most other frames. It's not a difficult procedure, it is just detailed because of the need to re-lace the wheel with a new different length spoke. Lacing wheel's aren;t too dificult, there's tons of youtube videos out there explain it. But if you do get a frame made from scratch, tell the builder to make the frame's rear wide enough fit the rear hub. That will save you some time. |
that's nice oldtimer

yup, thats hot for sure, but need little more upgrade :thumbsup

50 people faking like they can ride a bike.

How did you fit the rear hub the one i found says its 120mm-130mm and the beast is 160mm?
|
i just don't understand the appeal of a fucking bicycle, but whatever floats your boat. And who goes 'cruising' on bicycles? Around here they are for quick transportation (everyone has one), and only people of 70+ yrs old go 'cruising'. Everyone else is glad they don't have to cycle if they don't have to.

I am a little more on the high tech viable transportation side of bikes. ;) Does 30mph on a flat (for now) and has a 60 to 80 mile range. I've got 5700 miles on it so far. I'll reply to this thread when I get the rear fenders finished. Everything on the carrier is now down by the rear axle. Made sort of a sheet metal pannier. Have to finish the outer covers yet. Motor is capable of 55mph + easily. Waiting on a new controller. Has blue tooth to my tablet showing Gps speed, Voltage, Amperage, watt hours used, watt hours per mile, Temp for two temp sensors.. just a ton of stuff.
The plan for early next summer is a East coast, to West coast, then to Pittsburgh to visit family and wrap up the trip. The current route will take me from the East coast, down to the Gulf, along the Mexican border, then on to Venice beach, then to Denver and then off to Pittsburgh. If I feel good enough, and have enough time, I'll finish up heading up to Niagara to the Canadian border. Guy from an ebike forums I'm on just broke the Guinness world record by doing 4300 + miles a month or so ago. Took him 29 days and he did 200+ miles most of the days. My trip, if it goes to plan, will beat that pretty handily. I'm trying to find a charity and do it as a pledge type thing so I'm doing some good while breaking the record. Very early in planning stages right now, so nothing is carved in stone yet, but that currently is the plan. Builds shown here look great. Biking needs to be a more viable form of transportation, for both short and long range needs. Those 5700 some miles only cost around 8.00 in electric to charge. I figure with the way battery tech is increasing I'll have an easy 175 to 200 mile range in the same space I use now for the batteries. There are 24 bricks of 4s lipo on board. Bike in total with the new rear fenders is around 110 to 115 pounds. Easy to pick it up over a guard rail or a stream if needed. We need more bike lanes and to encourage biking and ebiking over gas vehicles. https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.n...a9c69d82bfa2da |
thats a bad ass bike. enjoy.

This is the new 2-speed internal gear hub I used: http://www.amazon.com/SRAM-Automatix...dp/B00554464W/ And I used 254mm spokes. The Mongoose Beast wheel comes with 260mm spokes, which are too long if you change the hub. |
