I will wait a week or so.

I have a friend who's a bit of an Apple nutter. He was in line at the Apple Store last night, right at the front. By this morning the line was 400 deep.
I did the same thing at BestBuy the last few launches and there's never a wait.
And I had decided at the last minute to just buy it outright and forego any leasing or contract.
$799 for a fucking phone. $2 or so a day for the next year isn't all that bad...I guess.

I just had someone trade me a brand new 32gb LG G3 for my 2 year old iPhone 5. He sold his 5 and upgraded to the LG. He hated Android and didn't care that it seemed like he might be losing out. He said he was going nuts with Android.
This LG G3 is a nice phone too. Hardware wise, it's nicer than anything I've seen running Android.Comment

I just read anther (mainstream not Apple fanboy) article about how great the new IOS8 is because (finally) you can install keyboard apps for the first time.

I am in Europe right now so I have the main screen set to dual time, which is really neat. I don't have to pull out my cell phone to check messages or texts or to see who is calling. I can stream music through my watch, and it can monitor heartbeat while tracking my bike rides on GPS. If I stray too far from my cell phone, my watch lets me know AND locks down my cell phone which is handy. What the fuck more can I ask from my watch? (Which Apple still doesn't sell!
I have an Applefanboy friend who had a huge hard on because he bought Apple TV so he could stream iTunes to his TV. REALLY? Because I can stream Top Gun from DVD in my fucking Jeep from my garage to any of the TVs in my house.
It's just comical. Every time Apple re-launches the same exact product in a different size or color you all just go fap fap fap and stand in line.Herschel Savage

Mine just fell out of my pocket on to the floor in the studio. I was scrunched down on the floor. It fell from no more than a foot, hit on the corner and shattered/cracked.
Add another $109 to that total. And I'm probably going to have wait a few days for them to be able to do the replacement in store.

I`m happy with my Samsung Note 2 from 2012.
But if I would buy a new phone today, I would not go for an iPhone or a Samsung.

I'm the most open minded person in the world really, and always do my best to see everything from all sides.
We've used iPhones on and off since they first came off. I've had three or four iPhones myself. One of my family members currently has an iPhone; as I type this my iTouch is within inches of my keyboard. It's not like we don't currently use Apple product and haven't used Apple products for over a decade now.
At this point all of the phones are really the same. They all run the same exact apps. They all do the same exact things. The only real differences are screen size. (You can argue about screen resolution until you are blue in the face but frankly I couldn't tell you the resolution on my phone, never could, and don't see a difference either way.)
The difference is we've had nothing but problems with iPhones. We've had two dozen cracked screens on iPhones, but never a cracked screen on any other phone no matter what the brand. The only phone that have problems with reception and dropped calls is when we are using iPhones. The current problem we have with the last model of iPhone is the amount of data it consumes. We've turned off all data on apps and it's still burning through 20 gigs of data a month, which is twice our plan. We have data completely turned off but that makes the phone utterly useless. We are trying to get our phone company to replace it with anything else.
Apple fanboys seem to think their phone is the best without understanding that there is very little difference between an iPhone and any other phone currently sold. When you factor in cracked screens, reception issues, and dropped calls, you have an inferior phone.

When I was a kid I always needed the newest / fastest gaming system. I never waited in line for anything, but at some point I always upgraded. I went from Atari to Nintendo and so on and so forth until I finally discovered... You can play all of these games on PC. No need to buy a game system at all.
As for phones... I don't wait in line for them either. I had my last phone for about three years and was fine with it, and only got the Galaxy S5 because my wife wanted to upgrade hers so I went into the store with her and discovered it was only $99 so I got one too. It did exactly the same thing my last phone did, only is a bit bigger - which takes some getting used to.
A phone is a phone at this point. I bet you the damn Amazon Fire phone that they give away for a song and a dance is just as good. As long as your phone can run apps, the only thing that makes it different from any other phone is screen size. (And Apple finally caught up.)Herschel Savage

Apple laid back let others spend money, analyzed the results and then increased size instead of just releasing blindly and taking a gamble. Whatever phone makes ya happy. In my opinion and many others Apple runs smoother so the difference is in Productivity not in screen size. Wanna hack your phone to death=Android Just want shit to run flawless=Apple

My family has had an iPhone and multiple Apple MP3 players for the past decade. I muyself have owned multiple iPhones.
I love their MP3 players; Nothing comes close. I am in Europe right now, on the road, and I have my iTouch with me. Wouldn't think of leaving home without it (although ironically I was able to load up all kinds of great music on my Android phone at no cost [including songs I did not own] using Rhapsody which came in handy the other day).
At the same time, the only phones we've had any problems with has been iPhones. Never had a problem with any other phone.... Never had a cracked screen, never been able to get a connection (except for once in Montana in the middle of no where, and our iPhone didn't get reception either), never had dropped calls... But we've had these problems with iPhones for years now.
Of course I'm opened minded - I've been using Apple products for the past decade. The iPHone has been an inferior product, and is STILL not as technologically advanced as other phones out there.Herschel Savage

Apple fanboys have to be some of the biggest douche bags I have ever met. Watching them fap over iOS updates that give them functions I had with my G1 is just sad. Not to mention it only took them 6 or 7 years to create a phone that has the same screen size as their competition. Why? Because Jobs. That's why. Why like the iPhone? Jobs. That's why.

Aren't you the guy who always says you just need your phone to make phone calls and check email? Now you're worrying about running two apps side by side ON A PHONE?
It's possible, not with a standard iPhone...but with some tweaking, it's possible.
But pretty much retarded. Who needs to open two apps on a 4.7'' screen at the same time?
I have the new iPhone and I also have what is one of the top Android phones available at the moment (LG G3). The LG is finally a nice piece of Android hardware. It's one of the first who's build quality is almost in the same league as Apple's.
The LG has twice as much RAM, but doesn't run anywhere near as smooth and fast as the iPhone 6. It also rips through it's battery in about 6 hours. My new iPhone had been off charger since yesterday morning. I just plugged it in and it still had 35% left.
Sorry buddy. If I have to choose between being able to use my phone and not having to be connected to the wall all the time or running two apps on the same screen at once...it's really not a decision.Last edited by candyflip; 09-22-2014, 04:49 AM.Comment
