    Business Who's shooting in 4k?

    Hi, we're considering buying a 4k camera, if any, a lumixG panasonic look worth more for the money. Who's shooting with 4k? What program's best to use for editing, can all programs handle the data? Is Gary correct, the amount of data downloading to edit the footage, COULD possibly be too much for our laptop, as our pc's down at the moment, so looking at new pc's.

    I think hd is plenty for porn. After watching the youtube clips with differences from HD & 4k, 4k looks great for filming nature, with distant, outdoor & movement shooting. But there really seems no need with close up action with lighting in 4k

    What's your thoughts?

      I am shooting with 2 Panasonic GH4 cameras and even though I am downsampling to 1080p you get tons more detail and dynamic range. You definitely need something with fast hard drives and an up to date graphics card for editing.

          I've been looking into it, too. Not all NLEs can handle true 4k. There are a couple schools of thought on processing workflows. And of course the hard drive space... but I remember that was an issue when 1080p came out, too. Onward and upward we go!

          If you can see pimples and scars at 1080p, what can you see at 4k? *cringe*

              I think most models are going to say no to being shot in 4k, lol I remember saying to Gary, I'm not having HD vid of me on the net, but then it still happened

              For now I think we'll just continue with 1080p as this seems enough for the average persons screen & it doesn't seem needed to use with editing & zooming in or stabilizing with filming people

                  With so much of our content viewed online, and our DVD demographic aging ( and no longer quick adapters ) I'm thinking 4k has limited value for even the highest quality online adult content.

                  Down sampling and a little more magic in post yes, but value for money to consumer, I'm not seeing it at this point.

                      Seeing as I joined your site and saw your content, I'd concentrate on learning how to edit, shoot and light content before you waste your money on 4K. It truly is the most appalling quality I've ever seen.

                      Most importantly, you are shooting amateur. Why on earth would you even consider 4K? Know your niche.

                          I'm shooting two camera set up, Panasonic GH4 and Sony A7S. 4k edit on stacked iMac in Premiere Pro with no issues but it is system intensive for sure. Have only shot a handful of porn scenes with this set up but its great for interviews, profile pieces and docu work.

                                                      Most companies that can afford 4k can afford talent that doesn't have the flaws most are tying to cover up or have a great makeup artist for this purpose. For low budget talent shoot them in SD lol. As for the beautiful girls with nice skin and pretty vaginas I would love to see all that detail.

                                                              I thought the same when 1080p was first came out and a lot of the first stuff we had coming in had those problems, but only because it was new. It needs to be shot better in general and people didn't get away with as much and it has come a long way. 4k is no different, if anything its SO good it gives it a natural 3d feel to it and you see textures from all depths instead of just the model so this helps.

                                                              It's definitely an expensive upgrade and involves a learning curve both with producers and the people encoding it for their sites, so I understand why some of you would be hesitant or have doubts, but it absolutely is the future of high end content and it is already getting popular--fast.

                                                                  I have nice skin & am not too concerned with any details, it's just HD began to bring up any pimple that anyone or any girl can get that day. If 4K is worthy, surfer & membership worthy, then tbh 4k can be cost effective, with regards to a cpl of cameras we have seen on the market.

                                                                                  I am shooting stock for mainstream nature shots outdoors and though 4k is not needed, my thought is shoot for the future to save re-shooting in the near future.

                                                                                                                  Its really easy edit 4k on a 1080 timeline if you have a good system. Shoot in 4k and publish in 1080 is the way to go right now.
